[REL]Kim Ronhof's SH4 Report generator ver. 5102
Kim Ronhof has graciously released his SH4 Report generator ver. 5102.
When correctly installed it should automatically find all your saved games. Just double click on the appropriate saved game. The program then creates the patrol report and copies it to the Clipboard to paste into Word or a Text file for further editing. JANAC Tonnage will vary according to your realism settings. That's all Folks! - Kim Ronhof SH4Report_5102.zip - includes PDF instructions: 850 KB (871,340 bytes) Download Link: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...=3560&act=down Happy Hunting! |
Wow!!!!
Is this version compatible with supermods (TMO, RFB, FOTRS) or only for vanilla SH4? Many thanks and best regards! Fitzcarraldo :salute: |
Yes, for sure TMO & Stock but as it gathers data from Saved Games and basic SH4 files that are universal to all installs, it should work.
If it doesn't know if a Warship or Maru it will ask. Kim did an outstanding job with this and it was nice of him to publicly release it. It won't conflict or cause damage either :) Happy Hunting! The quoted sections below are just a quick sample of raw data from the report generator Quote:

Sounds cool. Is there a sample of a report so we can see what it does?

This tool is great; it's been too long for SH4 without its own SH3 Commander - like tool; this one is close, its simple and is doing what it supposed to do; only thing I would add is some html code added to generated report. Could be perfect.
|
You could cheat and use BLOCKQUOTE inside a <P> under <HEAD> with margins and BODY once you get your text edited... and <br>'s at the end of every line and paragraph if you want simple html.
I just did one by hand in Notepad in about 4 minutes. - or just paste the text into Word or a html email. Some of these text editors like NoteTab make simple html docs too. WYSIWYG ..... lol :) Happy Hunting! ---------------------------------- Edit - I just now selected this #7 message individually and viewed the source code with my browser. Down at the bottom is my (this) message with <br /> tags inserted at the end of every line, paragraph, and space breaks between the sections right where you need them. Copy that message block inside the bottom <DIV> </DIV> tags and paste it into Notepad, do a search and replace to change the <br />'s into <br>'s, and most of the work is done! Then wrap that inside <P> <BLOCKQUOTE> under <BODY> and <HEAD> with % margins, and close it in reverse order: </P> </BLOCKQUOTE> </BODY> </HTML> and you have a usable formatted html doc in less time than it took to edit this message. Of course you would paste your formatted text patrol report into a forum post and use that - not MY message but you get the idea - I hope. |
Help
When I try and set the path I keep getting an error that say's SH4report_5102 " Invalid file name ". I don't get a full report at all just the a few lines.
|
Also when I try and set the path it gives me this error message. " isn't a valid integer. This is in the " sea " folder.
|
The instructions and numerous pictures show how and where to install it.
The Report Generator goes in My Documents - your SH4 folder there, typically SH4 - then inside that saved games folder to the actual SaveGames folder where all your Saved Game folders are - numbered: 00000000 00000001 00000002 00000003 etc, etc. If you can see those folders that is where the Report Generator goes just like as shown in the picture. Since you ran it there is probably an ini file in the folder called, SHReport4_0.ini Delete that. Now, open the Report Generator from inside your SaveGames folder and try to find your SH4 install where the game is installed on your Hard Drive using the "tree" on the right. Just like in the picture. I don't know what you are doing in the Sea folder. Do what the PDF doc says. Click those 4 empty boxes if you want then click "Set SH4Path" button. Close the Report Generator and there should be a new ini file... "SHReport4_0.ini" - Now open the Report Generator and double click on a saved game that is saved at Sea not in port. It should make a report. Quote:

Other programs he has made in the past use this same type of theme and I was lucky to get a special version of a SH1 tool with extra features a couple of times. I'll ask him but I'm thinking it was for a yet unmade future version. Happy Hunting! |
No,,,REALLY!!!!
Gee thanks for the patronizing tone aanker! I did everything like the friggin pictures said! When I try and create a path after I check off all the boxes ( keep in mind mister computer master that I have allready put the exe in my save game folder in my documents, I know where it is. ) it shows the little folder tree- and it looks something like this- C, program files, ubisoft, Copy of silenthunterIV, data, roster, japan, sea. It went there on its own so I am not in any friggin sea file! And buy the way I am clicking on the main SH4 directory before I click on create path. I can read you know.
|
I'm not sure I understand whats your problem?
Just go back to C:\ProgramFiles\SilentHunterIV and click on "Change path". Main game directory is where exe is located. You need a save file made at the end of patrol, but right before entering homeport. |
I see two messages:

So I break it down, step by step, trying to make it as easy for you to understand as possible. I'm thinking: Wrong install location? All that is mentioned is, error messages and "sea folder". Clicking the wrong button first? Did you try to make a report out of a saved game at port? I can't tell what is wrong from those posts. If you felt I was talking down to you, I wasn't intending to. Well, hopefully you got it. That's the main thing. Peace. |
Ok, just for clarity because the readme was a bit vague.
Will this not generate a report from a game saved after you dock, you need to save just before you dock and then use that file? I click on the file, hit change path, get same error message.Hell, when I click on the report icon in the documents folder to open up the report maker, it says invalid directory, eh. |
You need to set game path only the first time; after that, for example - to make report from your second patrol, you just choose proper save file from the list on the left (double-click). I didnt try to use in-base save, I do what manual says (or was it aanker?) to save before ending patrol and use that save, so not the one called "onenteringbase".
If you screw it just delete ini file (located in the same directory as the report generator: documents\SH4\data\cfg\SaveGames) and start the tool again - that way you will start from scratch: 1. choose game path (like c:\games\ubisoft\silenthunter4) and click "set path" button; 2. select save (double click) and the tool will start gathering info from that save; it will show in the text box below and also copied to clipboard, so you can paste to Word, Notepad, HTMLKit or wherever you want. |

If I remember correctly, your game is installed to program files directory, right? Maybe that is the cause of your problems while modding (generally). Maybe I'm wrong, maybe not, but try to run the tool as admin, or - just to try it once to exclude this possibility - disable UAC, restart the PC, and try the tool once more, with ini file deleted - just in case.
(My SH is installed on D:\ partition, which is all just for games; its a good practice to avoid system partition and program files directory, especially with games like SH4, where there is a lot of modding going on (not just because of security etc., but also disc fragmentation). And by the way, I have UAC disabled on my Win7x64, but once it was enabled, every time I tried to copy something into program files, it asked me for confirmation, etc., maybe that report generator needs some data from your main installation dir, like ship names or something, and it can't acquire access to it). |
Bubblehead, just delete the ini file in there with the report generator. That is the solution for those error messages.
1.) Delete the ini file 2.) Start up the patrol report tool 3.) Set your path to where your game is installed - the main folder where sh4.exe and the JSGME.exe, and MultiSH4.exe are. Make that folder be the blue highlighted folder. Don't worry if there are folders hanging below it like: Data, MODS, RegistrationReminder, Resources, and Support, or subfolders of Data. 4.) Click the button top right that says SetSH4Path. It will probably change to Change SH4path later. 5.) Close the report tool. Open the report tool and double click a saved game at sea where you have seen some action and saved before returning to base. Call it :'Last Save" or something then return to base. Once that ini file is created and the tool can make patrol reports you are good to go from then on. I'm trying to help, so if you know some stuff, maybe someone else doesn't. Any error messages and the ini file has bad info and must be deleted and remade. That's all........... Happy Hunting! |
