Messages Decoded??
I was reading a post about messages and I have a question thats been bugging me for some time.
I know it's early in the war for me right now but, I always get the feeling that Bletchley Park is out there decoding all my transmissions. I know this is ridiculous but I can't shake it. Is there any historical message decoding in the game?? If so, when does it start. The code was never safe until some of the later "four wheeled" Enigma machines started to appear for the Kreigsmarine and the Luftwaffe. So, are my messages being decoded?? :hmmm: D40 |
Since you can send only patrol and contact reports they don't really need to decode messages. They just take bearing to point of transmittion and send airplanes or DDs.

The radio messages engine I made has the capability of using coded messages. What I haven't made is the decoder for them yet. When I make an enigma style decoder then we can have enigma messages being sent to your sub (and you'll be able to send them also). That will be some time for now as GR2 Editor/Viewer is top priority still :yep:

Thanks guys for making all the mods for us players, makes SH5 a better experience than what started when I installed the Vanilla game. Keep up the great work!!! :salute: |

I downloaded a working software Enigma Machine. It comes with all versions of the machine and I actually learned how to decode messages. I haven't learned to encode yet, I'll update with the link when I'm on my other computer. It may be a bit complex to use as a mod (if the owner would oblige) but it is really awesome. D40 PS; I feel a bit better now. Like Michael13 said, they only need to trace my singal to find me anyway. |
Intereasting !

The decoding process takes more than 1 step:
You send this message to BDU: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 23 August 1939 / 1744 / BdU / 84 / ADO PHO ZRAR PCOI SFJT UAXP QAYB JJUS ITLJ QGDS TGVJ PZKO RIRW FRPS RFFJ OVJM NGBE PCTP PQWP WXQO UNFH TYJE BASV xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (1) Decoding with the code-sheet, handed out to the commander before the patrol http://img.xrmb2.net/images/895436.jpeg ...results in this => 23 August 1939 / 1744 / BdU / 84 / ADO PHO FTUYYREACHEDASSIGNEDPATROLAREAXNOTRAFFICXREQUESTFU RTHERORD ERSYYUTWOSEVENMOELLERYYFTU (2) Formatting Rules and Commonly used Abbreviations of the Kriegsmarine X = Period Y = Comma UD = Question Mark XX = Colon YY = Dash/Hyphen/Slant KK**KK = Parenthesis J******J = Stress Mark => 23 August 1939 / 1744 / BdU / 84 / ADO PHO FTU/REACHEDASSIGNEDPATROLAREA.NOTRAFFIC.REQUESTFURTHER ORDERS/ UTWOSEVENMOELLER/FTU (3) Adding spaces => http://img.xrmb2.net/images/617237.jpeg |

As long as we are talking about coded messages.....can anyone please explain how would I actually use the "Safe communications" ability of my radio man?? In what situations?? What happens if I don't use safe communications??

@Maki4444 I would say everything the radio man sends is safe communication. Assumption: the more he sends in a given interval of time the more increase the probability to get enemy contacts. |
Enigma Sim
Here a link to one site with an Egnigma Sim.
**Clicky** He also has a Code Book tool, to make your own key books. |

I found the dang thing on subsim,
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...do=file&id=530 Enigma simulator and Karle's Enigma codebook tool. Some of us familier with SH3 have seen this thing. When I start playing with it I can't put it down, it's so dead on. TDW, do you think there's any chance...? D40:hmmm: PS: I this wasn't a letdown seeing as it's been on the subsim site all this time |
The one I linked to earlyer (Here it is again, **Clicky**)
is the newest version (v7.0.2) of the one here in SubSims (v6.2.0). You can also make your own code books. Also, for TheDarkWaith, here's a link to the source code, **Clicky** It's written in Visual Basic. But if you'd like to look at the Enigma Sim author's source code, he just asks you to email him, and give credit where do. (All info is found in the FAQ section.) |

BlackDiamond, Thanks so much for getting this together. D40 |
No problem.
Wish I could help you code it, but I have no clue how. I'm no programmer, I got a D in programming in College. (It's why I fly planes now, much more fun.) I'm just good at finding info. (Espacially when google is involed :DL ) |
