Big trouble in trying to get to indo-china.
I want to start a new career in the Far east, but I'm having some issues.
First off, I want to sail from Lorient to Penang, but I'm having timing issues. *If I start too early (Spring 43), I'm having torpedo issues (see below), If I start too late (July 43), the upgrades to the boat after my shakedown spin take me past the transfer date, and I get ported to Penang (I think, i didn't even check which harbor I started from as the torpedo issues below made me quit). As to the torpedo issues.* When I started in the spring, I upgraded from a IXC to a IXd2 for free, but clicking on the torpedo options in base caused a CTD, multiple times. *When I started in July, and after my shakedown 'cruise' (dunno if the bug was there, I loaded and quit without checking), I went to upgrade my equipment, and there were no torpedo tubes available! *I do not mean there weren't any eels in the warehouse, i mean there were no slots to put them in my boat! *Double clicking the type 1 eel would go through the normal equipment procurement process, and it would act like I loaded an eel, it would even tell me I already have that. When setting sail,. I had no eels on the boat,. no torpedo tubes, and no tube lights on the scope/UZO. * I Tried a rollback of SHC (rare for me), no luck. * Now, I cannot connect this phone to my computer, nor can I get the computer on the net right now (both long stories), so linking the file I screwed up to download won't work. *If somebody could point me in the right direction in the .cfg's, and post up how the default IXD2 should be configured in the .cfg, it would be greatly appreciated. * EDIT: No idea where thsoe *'s came from, but Anyways, I have used that external app called torpedo, which allows you to edit eel loadouts easier. I did use that to reset all to default, but as I'm browsing the .cfg, I see A LOT of boats have 0 tubes and reserves listed..... hmmmm.... |
Okay, while digging through the basic.cfg file, I found this oddity, along with some other similar 'typos':

So Should the header look like: Quote:
Edit: Looks like I may have to reinstall everything and rebuild the setup. There are dozen of random 'typos' and such throughout my basic.cfg. Things like "YEAR=194----1|. Game ran fine up until tonight though...... Edit2; no joy. Fixing the headers like that had no affect |
Sorry that I cannot help you; but I just have to commend you on the word play of one of my favorite bad/good movies.
http://www.nndb.com/people/667/00011...es-hong-sm.jpg I am an admirer James Hong, 82 years of age and still doing comedic martial arts roles, although with a panda lately. Hope you get it sorted out. |
Actually, still have yet to see that one......

You know what ol' Jack Burton always says...

People either like it or don't, its very tongue-in-cheek. Just think of Kurt Russell playing a character who thinks he is Snake Plissken but is totally confused with all the magic mumbo jumbo, can't do anything right, and is constantly having his hide saved by his sidekicks. It looks better on the big screen than on video |

Ah, but only one correct answer: "Who?"

Gargamel,
I know this might sound bad, but can you go to a previous save? It sounds like one of two things, either a bad game save, or a corrupted game. Can't remember right off, but to keep those kinds of things down to a minimum, if you can, delete previous game-saves except for the previous patrol, incase you need to reload because of glitches that can happen. I will keep only one or two of the most recent patrols, and everything that is loder, I delete. And the worst case, is you may have to start over. Unless someone has an idea of what is causing you issues. |
I just took a look at the same location in my Basic.cfg, and mine looks like this:
;[SUBMARINE_AMMO10];IXD2 [SUBMARINE_AMMO9] I'm pretty sure that's the way it should look. [edit] I always keep a stock copy of the Data folder in a safe place, and that is exactly what the stock version looks like as well. The way you have it shown in your OP seems to be broken. |
It has never been a save game issue, just starting a new career with the ixd2.
I'll try that Steve, 9 makes way more sense to me than 90. I'll just have to dig through the file and fix all the typos. |

Have you fixed it yet? Although I play the stock game (modded) I've taken a look also and I am fairly sure it is supposed to be SUBMARINE_AMMO9. I don't pretend to know anything about the basic.cfg, but this seems to be an equipment ID number for the Type IXD2 and has to be sequential to the SUBMARINE_AMMO# section listed above it, the 90 probably put it out of sequence. The reason for the commented out [SUBMARINE_AMMO10] is because the section for the Type IXD1 above it is commented out (because the sub is not in the stock game). It was to have the SUBMARINE_AMMO9 ID and the Type IXD2 was to have the SUBMARINE_AMMO10 ID but it had to be changed to a lower ID because of the removal. If you are using GWX, or anything that adds U-Boats to the game, you may need to get the basic.cfg for it to double check. Whew! I hope I got that right. Here is the complete section from the stock game for the Type IXD2 in case you need it: ;[SUBMARINE_AMMO10];IXD2 [SUBMARINE_AMMO9] Type=2 Version=3 ForeTubes=4 AftTubes=2 ForeResIntern=4 ForeResExtern=8 ForeResExtra=2 AftResIntern=2 AftResExtern=4 ShellSlots=16 NbYears=4 Renown=10 SNK_MASK=NSS_Uboattype9d2_SNK_mask Year0=1942 ForeTube00=2 ;T1 ForeTube01=2 ForeTube02=2 ForeTube03=2 ForeResIntern00=0 ForeResIntern01=0 ForeResIntern02=2 ForeResIntern03=2 ForeResExtern00=0 ForeResExtern01=0 ForeResExtern02=0 ForeResExtern03=0 ForeResExtern04=2 ForeResExtern05=2 ForeResExtern06=2 ForeResExtern07=2 ForeResExtra00=2 ForeResExtra01=2 AftTubes00=2 AftTubes01=2 AftResIntern00=0 AftResIntern01=2 AftResExtern00=0 AftResExtern01=0 AftResExtern02=0 AftResExtern03=0 Z01_00=10 ; IX/3 M01_00=0 A01_00=6 A02_00=6 SuperCharger_00=-1 Snorkel_00=-1 Batteries_00=1268 AftBatteries_00=1268 Hydrophone_00=1270 Sonar_00=-1 Radar_00=-1 RadarWarningReceiver_00=-1 Decoy_Launcher_00=-1 SonarCoatings_00=-1 RadarCoatings_00=-1 Renown0=12000 Year1=1943 ForeTube10=3 ;T1 ForeTube11=3 ForeTube12=3 ForeTube13=3 ForeResIntern10=0 ForeResIntern11=0 ForeResIntern12=3 ForeResIntern13=3 ForeResExtern10=0 ForeResExtern11=0 ForeResExtern12=0 ForeResExtern13=0 ForeResExtern14=3 ForeResExtern15=3 ForeResExtern16=3 ForeResExtern17=3 ForeResExtra10=3 ForeResExtra11=3 AftTubes10=3 AftTubes11=3 AftResIntern10=0 AftResIntern11=3 AftResExtern10=0 AftResExtern11=3 AftResExtern12=3 AftResExtern13=3 Z01_10=11 ; IX/3 M01_10=0 A01_10=10 A02_10=10 S01_10=5 SuperCharger_10=-1 Snorkel_10=-1 Batteries_10=1268 AftBatteries_10=1268 Hydrophone_10=1270 Sonar_10=-1 Radar_10=1275 RadarWarningReceiver_10=1280 Decoy_Launcher_10=1284 SonarCoatings_10=-1 RadarCoatings_10=-1 Renown1=9000 Year2=1944 ForeTube20=3 ;T1 ForeTube21=3 ForeTube22=1 ForeTube23=1 ForeResIntern20=3 ForeResIntern21=3 ForeResIntern22=1 ForeResIntern23=1 ForeResExtern20=0 ForeResExtern21=0 ForeResExtern22=3 ForeResExtern23=3 ForeResExtern24=3 ForeResExtern25=3 ForeResExtern26=1 ForeResExtern27=1 ForeResExtra20=3 ForeResExtra21=3 AftTubes20=5 AftTubes21=3 AftResIntern20=3 AftResIntern21=3 AftResExtern20=3 AftResExtern21=3 AftResExtern22=3 AftResExtern23=3 Z01_20=11; IX/3 M01_20=0 A01_20=10 A02_20=10 S01_20=5 SuperCharger_20=-1 Snorkel_20=1262 Batteries_20=1268 AftBatteries_20=1268 Hydrophone_20=1270 Sonar_20=-1 Radar_20=1275 RadarWarningReceiver_20=1280 Decoy_Launcher_20=1284 SonarCoatings_20=-1 RadarCoatings_20=-1 Renown2=6000 Year3=1945 ForeTube30=3 ;T1 ForeTube31=3 ForeTube32=4 ForeTube33=4 ForeResIntern30=3 ForeResIntern31=3 ForeResIntern32=4 ForeResIntern33=4 ForeResExtern30=0 ForeResExtern31=0 ForeResExtern32=3 ForeResExtern33=3 ForeResExtern34=3 ForeResExtern35=3 ForeResExtern36=4 ForeResExtern37=4 ForeResExtra30=3 ForeResExtra31=3 AftTubes30=6 AftTubes31=3 AftResIntern30=3 AftResIntern31=3 AftResExtern30=3 AftResExtern31=3 AftResExtern32=3 AftResExtern33=3 Z01_30=11 ; IX/3 M01_30=-1 A01_30=10 A02_30=10 S01_30=5 SuperCharger_30=-1 Snorkel_30=1262 Batteries_30=1268 AftBatteries_30=1268 Hydrophone_30=1270 Sonar_30=-1 Radar_30=1275 RadarWarningReceiver_30=1282 Decoy_Launcher_30=1284 SonarCoatings_30=-1 RadarCoatings_30=-1 Renown1=5000 |
Excellent! Thank you!
Digging through the basic.cfg right now and finding some weird things, like: ForeTube=---1 I figure the engine doesn't understand a triple negative, so I changed it to =1. *I actually came to ask that question, but seeing your data, that answered my Q. * |
