What would Jesus do?: The rise of a slogan

Quote:

The Occupy movement has become the latest to use the slogan "what would Jesus do?", something that has been questioned by the Archbishop of Canterbury. But where did the slogan come from and is there ever an answer to the question posed, asks Stephen Tomkins.Like all the most enduring slogans, "what would Jesus do?" has inspired countless rewrites. There has been everything from political parody - anti-war T-shirts asking "who would Jesus bomb?" - to the beyond parody such as the "what would Jesus eat?" biblical diet plan. The original question "what would Jesus do?" has been taken seriously by millions of Christian teenagers who have worn it over the last 20 years as a reminder to live their life in the right way. But it's now been co-opted by protesters outside London's St Paul's Cathedral threatened with eviction. Particularly in the US, but also elsewhere, it's on wristbands, mugs, T-shirts, bumper stickers, necklaces and earrings, though most of those seem rather to defeat the purpose of reminding the owner about anything.

I dunno, what makes you say that Jesus did much of that in his later life? :hmmm:

Preach the gospel full-time, except when busy washing others' feet and, as already mentioned, feeding the poor.

Not by using government as a vehicle of redistribution. Jesus did not advocate forced governmental "charity". Nor did he advocate "feeding the poor" by using a voting booth as a means to give away other people's money and things. Christ's commandments about the poor are PERSONAL responsibilities, not a collective responsibility. And the leftists perverts this to fit their desire to feel good about themselves for "caring" without actually making any personal effort or sacrifice.

Dunno, it's merely a supposition on my part. Kind of a sarcastic retort towards the OWS unwashed masses. Along with getting a job and not infringing upon others as they are.

Its rather a silly question as it would seem pretty obvious you are talking out your rear end? But to give you a chance to show you are not talking complete crap can you please supply some scripture to back up that nonsense?

I'll tell you what...Show me the verse where Jesus ever said “give your money to Cesar so Cesar can redistribute it according to the dictates of his conscience”! and we'll talk.

I see that you're one of these self-proclaimed "Christians" who spends all his time proving that his version is the correct one, and none of it actually proclaiming the Gospel.
