Removing location icon from map in SH3
It would be vary nice to be able to dead recon with SH3. I have looked at threads but have found nothing or over looked it. It is a nice feeling and good challenge to think you know your location especially being chased.Any help.

It's an interesting thought, but I'm sorry to say I can't offer any specific suggestions in this regard. I know some mods remove the trails but I'm uncertain as to which (if any) completely remove the icon. That being said, someone may come along and point you in the right direction. Good luck! |
Cheers mate, welcome to the forums! :]
I have no modding experience at all regarding the Silent Hunter series, but as far as I remember, all the map icons are TGA files, right? To my knowledge, there is no mod that completely removes the icons, but by editing the appropriate TGA file for your sub's symbol and editing the alpha channel, it should at least be possible to create a kind of "dirty fix". So the icon would be there, but not visible because the alpha channel renders the whole symbol to be transparent. However this would probably lead to problems when plotting a course, simply because the game itself always knows your position and even if you don't see the symbol, the plot always begins at the position of your boat... :hmmm: Apart from that, that's indeed an interesting thought, having to keep track of your own position... |
WELCOME ABOARD! :sunny:
I'm sorry. I've looked everywhere I could think of, including my own files. I know there was a mod that did exactly what you're asking, but I just can't find it. I'm hoping someone who uses it will turn up with the answer. |

If your sub icon were to be gone, the challenge would be to plot exactly where you are right?
Well you would need a sextant for that I believe and I'm almost positive I have seen a sextant mod somewhere or other. Don't know if its something I have crossed in regard to SH4 or 5 though. You have Piqued my interest, I've joined the hunt for this. ***UPDATE*** found this... http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...do=file&id=724 |

Peaked?
|
I don't think it is possible in SH3 due to how the environment is made.
A flat world and sun and moon that revolves around the world your in. |

shiver me timbers to be put about
I read I hope all the threads available on this subject here "thank you all". With wild anticipation of new found cure to sooth this itch.I have yet to run this navigation mod with the sextant and hope it does not make more sense influenced by scurvy. Thank you again to my new friends and for your time and effort to help poor me.
For my thanks my favorite recipe for Plum Duff (Serves 8) 4 pounds plain flour 2 pounds grated pork fat 1 cup sugar 1¾ pints (UK), 2 pints (US) water 1½ cups raisins or currants 1 cup molasses Prefer fresh plums or soaked dried plums in rum ad to fit yer dersire and if available a wee bit o Cinnamon Mix all the ingredients together and knead thoroughly (adding extra water if necessary) to make a stiff dough. Divide dough into eight portions, tie each snugly in a floured pudding bag or cloth, steam for 1 hour and serve with custard. For Double-shotted duff, double the 'plums'. Enjoy Capt. Plank |
