Nice job, nice shots. If you hit 'Return' between each picture they will render vertically rather than horizontally, and the viewer won't need to scroll sideways to see them. :sunny:

Is this playable or AI-controlled? Either way, you might want to show this to the "Wolves of the Kaiser" guys.

jhapprich 11-21-11 03:49 AM

both AI and career-playable as always :salute:

sorry, folks, but I´ve stopped working on any modern ships and i won`t do the japanese warships. i am working on vessels of the Imperial German Navy. WIP are the Derfflinger and the light cruiser Emden (done 50%).

All of his imperial German navy ships are for axis side. And also jhapprich can you also make some playable WW1 German U-boats?

sidslotm 11-22-11 05:14 AM

Wow, soooo, good, can I try this in my campaign :woot:

Emden And Helgoland Beta Download

Hello! Here are the Emden and Helgoland for Beta testing.they are not done since i have had little time recently, but as i know you are waiting ...

steve_the_slim 02-23-12 07:56 AM

Both work pretty well. The only bug I spotted with the Helgoland was crew members on the deck wandering overboard. The Emden on the other hand has a bug where the guns will fire through the hull and superstructure, which lets Emden direct much more firepower at a target than she should be able to.

I also had a thought regarding the Emden. It might be a good idea to add a second version of it with extra AA guns. I know that's not historically accurate, but since this is a WWII game I think it would be useful for gameplay purposes, since you can't crash dive when a plane comes after you. 3 AA guns just isn't enough.

steve_the_slim 02-23-12 08:13 AM

EDIT: double post banished to the moon

jhapprich 02-23-12 08:25 AM

yes, since i havent finished the firing restrictions for the gun mounts, they can shoot at any direction. the aa guns on emden are crap indeed, they will be replaced by the appropriate anti-torpedo gunnery which will play the AA role. furthermore, especially the emden model as well as the gun aren`t smoothed yet and the AO has to be rebaked.

chrysanthos 02-23-12 11:07 PM

also the helgoland has another bug that when the ship takes some damage it explodes and sink

steve_the_slim 02-24-12 01:43 AM

It doesn't just sink at the first hit, though. I tried it out in that Battle of the Sibuyan Sea mission and managed to take quite a few bomb hits before it went under. It lasted longer than the pocket battleship, actually.

jhapprich 02-24-12 02:56 AM

yes, and this is something i havent been able to correct on my ships. the problem is, you take only minor damage and boom, you blow up. i tried adjusting the damage model, but still its the same. i guess its because of the way the game engine is programmed to have the ship types behave. we are faking ships, but the unittype is still submarine, not battleship. so a playable ship will not behave like a surface vessel like the yamato, which can take 10!!!! torpedoes from all around and still swims. any suggestions?

steve_the_slim 02-24-12 04:57 AM

Ask cdp44. His ships have properly-functioning damage models.

Edit: Hang on a sec, I just thought of something. If I remember correctly from my testing of Emden, doesn't that ship have a working damage model? It steadily took damage over the course of an attack on a convoy, and by the time I disengaged I had 40-odd percent hull damage, lots of big nasty holes, and a funnel shot away.
