God, I love large RWD V8's.

It would be my lotto dream car, but a good scratch off should cover it.

(Hey, I figured GT needed a break from all the politics...)

With the 700HP supercharged Super Snake engine please.
I'd prolly end up installing a guarded switch cluster for battery, ignition, starter, etc. add a little more profile to the rear wheels, rout the ducting so it all works, and run a scanner and radar constantly.

Some of those old land yachts are cool. I had a 1980 Lincoln Continental Signature Series. 351 Cleveland. Can not beat the ride feel of coil and A-arm suspension IMO.

This was my beast. Same color as well.

I have had an assortment of RWD Detroit V8 in my time. :DL

This was my high scool cruiser, except mine was a 2-door.

1972 Mercury Maruis Brougham

427 ci, power everything.

Graduation night, I pulled the drain plugs in the trunk, lined it with plastic, put 2 pony kegs on ice and had 2 cases of hard stuff next to the spare tire on the upper ledge.

A travelling party. Yes, I stayed sober until the last stop.

My car during my Navy years, until I got married.

1987 Ford Thunderbird. Her name was Victoria.

I hope you're referring to the original, and not the crap remake. :O:

Some lovely models there....but how many of them didn't 'screech' whilst taking a corner at more than say 25mph? :O:

$1000.00 is not bad. The electronics need to be looked at to assure they work. My 1980 Lincoln had a wall of relays and some just did not work or chatter away when activated. No replacements. Also, the variable venturi carb was a nightmare. I think this Lincoln on Craigs list has a Carter carb. They are good carbs. Check the tranny!

:DL Car's fine. It's the movie that makes me hurl.

I actually like the remake, but yeah, in comparison, gimme the original.

But then, I'm from the Friday night, drive-in movie, Thunder Road, Two Lane Blacktop, Vanishing Point kinda crowd.

Saturday was horror movie night. So many great ones.

Yeah, I liked the gloomy, nihilistic outlook of those movies. What broke the remake for me was that they felt the need to give it a point. The first thing I ever saw Viggo Mortensen in was a TV remake of Vanishing Point. It was also ruined by adding meaning to a story which was meant to have none.

I'm also extremely angry at the folks who released the original Gone in 60 Seconds to DVD. Part of the charm was the score, which consisted of some trashy but fun home-grown music, which can still be heard on the VHS version. The DVD release replaced it with some jazzy modern stuff. Definitely better music, but it kind of ruins the mood for those of us who remember.
