Editing the renown values (I forgot)
First, could someone just briefly describe the renown editing procedure, especially for patrol completion?
Now,I was wondering, before returning to base after my current 2nd patrol would I be able to edit the renown value for patrol completion to say 2000,which in addition to my rather small 500 or so renown at the moment this should give me enough to transfer into a VII (of any class!),the IIA is proving to be too limited to my style of play.I still cant understand why I chose a IIA in the first place.Dont get me wrong, its a nice little ride for a beginner, but the lack of a larger armament is a problem for aggressively minded captains in a sustained attacking scenario. Also I really miss my interception runs made at 17kts. This wouldnt be considered cheating would it? Cheers :salute: |
To edit renown rewards you would need to edit the basic.cfg, personally I would not do that in the middle of a patrol. I would wait until I finished the patrol and then open the career files and add the desired extra renown to the "delta renown" value found there. I don't have access to my files ATM to say exactly where it's found but someone else here will know.
At any rate if you are talking about adding to the renown reward for completing a patrol and returning safely to base, that feature doesn't work and never has so there's no point in changing the value there. Only the renown rewards for reaching your assigned grid and patrolling it for 24 hours are actually awarded (if you meet the criteria). Those are found in the basic.cfg file, but again I would not mess with that file mid-patrol. |
OK,thanks for that.Guess I will need a few more kills under my belt and do it the long (proper) way.Realistically though,if the commander was adept at his role he could transfer to any UBoat he wished,so long as it was seaworthy and availalbe (I may be wrong here too).I have 3 kills already from only 2 patrols, and am preparing for a 4th and final kill (hopefully) of the patrol.

I think GWX removes them anyway.

I think you can modify the renown values for bigger boats. Changing the type IX to 500 renown points, for example. Then you could "buy" a bigger boat, if you wish to.

Go to the basic.cfg file Open with note pad Find the Uboot you like - here IXB [SUBMARINE_AMMO6];IXB Type=2 Version=0 ForeTubes=4 AftTubes=2 ForeResIntern=4 ForeResExtern=5 ForeResExtra=2 AftResIntern=2 AftResExtern=3 ShellSlots=12 NbYears=7 Renown=7 Year0=1939 ForeTube00=0 ;T1 ForeTube01=0 ForeTube02=0 ForeTube03=0 ForeResIntern00=0 ForeResIntern01=0 ForeResIntern02=0 ForeResIntern03=0 ForeResExtern00=0 ForeResExtern01=0 ForeResExtern02=0 ForeResExtern03=0 ForeResExtern04=0 ForeResExtra00=0 ForeResExtra01=0 AftTubes00=0 AftTubes01=0 AftResIntern00=0 AftResIntern01=0 AftResExtern00=0 AftResExtern01=0 AftResExtern02=0 Z01_00=9 ; IX/1 M01_00=0 A01_00=8 S01_00=4 SuperCharger_00=1261; GWX V2.1: was -1, so this boat now has MAN turbos by default Snorkel_00=-1 Batteries_00=1268 AftBatteries_00=1268 Hydrophone_00=1270 Sonar_00=-1 Radar_00=-1 RadarWarningReceiver_00=-1 Decoy_Launcher_00=-1 SonarCoatings_00=-1 RadarCoatings_00=-1 Renown0=0 SNK_MASK=NSS_Uboattype9_SNK_mask Year1=1940 ForeTube10=0 ;T1 ForeTube11=0 ForeTube12=0 ForeTube13=0 ForeResIntern10=0 ForeResIntern11=0 ForeResIntern12=0 ForeResIntern13=0 ForeResExtern10=0 ForeResExtern11=0 ForeResExtern12=0 ForeResExtern13=0 ForeResExtern14=0 ForeResExtra10=0 ForeResExtra11=0 AftTubes10=0 AftTubes11=0 AftResIntern10=0 AftResIntern11=0 AftResExtern10=0 AftResExtern11=0 AftResExtern12=0 Z01_10=9 ; IX/1 M01_10=0 A01_10=8 S01_10=4 SuperCharger_10=1261; GWX V2.1: was -1, so this boat now has MAN turbos by default Snorkel_10=-1 Batteries_10=1268 AftBatteries_10=1268 Hydrophone_10=1270 Sonar_10=-1 Radar_10=-1 RadarWarningReceiver_10=-1 Decoy_Launcher_10=-1 SonarCoatings_10=-1 RadarCoatings_10=-1 Renown1=0 <-- Change this line Now you can get the IXB in 1940 for 0 renown Do the same for every sub and year you like. Save and enjoy If you are using SH3Commander copy the changed basic.cfg file to \SH3 Commander\!BACKUP\data\Cfg The last step is important for SH3 Commander to recongnize the changes. I have learned this the hard way. |
One good way is to simply award yourself the extra renown to buy larger sub.
Go to data\cfg\Careers\commanders name\ folder and open notepad file Patrols_0 and change DeltaRenown= to prefferred value of renown needed. |
Thanks both of you, really appreciate that :up:

The method I use is to set all the renown values for upgrades and personnel in the basic config file to zero. I do not change the time available however. When I get an upgrade, I allow three months in port to install.
I then use renown to track my progress in the war. I think this is the way that the NYGM mod does it, and I feel it is more realistic. |
I presently have 768 renown, and need 2500 for the VII,this obviously is a total of 3200 rounded up.How would I input this in the .cfg file, would it be:
3200.000000 <--- I notice there are 6 decimal places after the decimal point. Also,I have completed 2 patrols so naturally I would edit the patrol 2 files? ;) Thanks a lot :yep: |
So how does one edit the starting renown when one is ready to start a new campaign for SH4 U-Boat Missions? Be advised as I do not want to change the renown value per tonnage in-game, I just want a super high starting renown. I tried changing the starting renown in CareerStart.upc, but it will not open with Notepad! Not that I know what I'm doing.
