Pirates of the Caribbean

New PotC trailer is out. For the 4th movie in a series, it looks pretty good. Some fresh faces in it to. Ian McShane as Blackbeard, nice.

Seriously? I think he made the movies marketable. You don't like him as an actor or in that role? The man's one of the most flexible actor's I've ever seen. Problem is though, every time I see him in another role, while he's doing it fine, I still hear sparrow when he talks.

Looks like an enjoyable summer flick :yep:

Yep, just don't like him as an actor.
I should not have posted in this thread :O:

This movie is going to be either really great, or worse than the third one. (which I did like, but it still had a bad case of sequelitis) Hopefully the former, but most likely it'll be another one for the dollar theaters.... I'm sure the music will be insane, though :yep:

Yep :yep: His voices range a bit though. I had a hard time hearing Jack sparrow when I watched Rango.

Penelope Cruz, finally some cleavage :D arrrrr we be having a wench with some meat, me lads, :arrgh!:

You can't have POTC without Jack Sparow (khm captain). And Barbossa :arrgh!:

I've seen the other movies on tv, but they don't interest me enough to see them in the theater. I hate the magic nonsense. It's sort of odd since the whole idea came from the ride at Disney, and the original was pretty clear in showing the pirates as bastards (selling off captured women, chasing them (presumably with rape in mind--that was changed to the lady chasing the pirate later).

The age of sail is interesting enough without magic, and unless the do a Captain Blood and make them have a better motive... Meh.

Prolly worth a viewing but the series has started to lose its sparkle for me...heading toward overkil and a lack of fresh ideas.

I dunno, I thought what they did with Davy Jones and the Flying Dutchman was kind of interesting, but for the third one I was expecting so much more along the lines of sea monsters, mythology, etc. The third movie was called At World's End, I could've thought up so much stuff along those lines :nope:

I second that motion. It's like another Rocky. Really, who is Rocky going to fight this round?

True dat. :nope:

As much as I love Johnny Depp (who can do no wrong, and you shall not speak ill of him in my presence :arrgh!:), I would trade the last two POTC movies for another Master & Commander provided they got the same bunch of peeps together for it.

Three cheers for Lucky Jack !!!

A master and commander movie would be to ''complicated'' for the simple minds of todays population. Michael Bay is more experienced in pleasing the lower life forms.

Sad but true. Unfortunately, M&C used elements from many of the books. Too bad they didn't in fact do the actual book, Master and Commander since that had all kinds of awesome age of sail action--the intimacy of Sophie would be cool, too.
