Ridely Scott quits on new Alien project (2011)
I just read it in German news. The project is cancelled. But from the years of plannign so far, another film will emerge, so far called "Prometheus".
The message weas brief and just a few lines. If you have more info, post it. I personally did not wait for another Alien movie anyway. I want him to finally come to terms with The Forever War. He doesn't get younger. |
Will Prometheus be bound? That would be pretty cool. :O:

In a way, I think the "alien" series has run its course. Perhaps he can bring his skill into another series?

i think an Alien prequel would be great given the right story and directing... problem is with such a film it is very easy to produce a turd.
Ridely Scott walking away from it speaks volumes. unfortunate. |
Just email a friend to break the bad news, his answer was.....
Hmmm, well you get the picture. Well it would have been nice to see the back story but this is now not the case. |
Would have liked to see another face hugger movie :-?

After running out of numbers with the sequels, it is only logical Hollywood will then produce prequels, maybe starting with Rocky -17 ? :O:
But really apart from sequels Hollywood seems to run out of ideas. They should maybe quit concocted history loe U-571 or Pearl Harbour and make realistic historical films, like the flight of the Vimy from England to Australia, and such. I love Science Fiction from books to films, but there are very few good SF books lately, and gaaawwwd SF is all about imagination and fiction. Why would they do the umpteenth sequel of Alien ?! They really seem to suffer from a lack of imagination and ideas :dead: There is so much real good SF to make films from, from "The Forever War" to "Ringworld" to the "Gateway" trilogy ... Tho, frankly, I don't see why not just make an Alien prequel, big aliens = born from space jockeys (the chestburster hole is huge on the SJ in ALIEN), same planet, Giger aliens. I mean, all the ingredients are there, so why not? Original Sky Movies article: http://movies.sky.com/exclusive-prom...iens-are-in-it ------------- Speaking of Scott, would love to see him finally make a movie about 'Gunpowder Plot' he has been planning for 30+ years. :yep: |
Gods, why do you torment us so?
They should have quit after ALIENS. Alien3 looked up to dog turds, and I needn't bother going into the travesties of movies that followed. I would have trusted Scott or Cameron to do a prequel justice - moreso Scott, but Cameron mighta done OK - it's not like he hasn't worked with Sigourney Weaver before. Ah, well. |

Right, let's catch up with Prometheus news.
--------------------------------------- Bleeding Cool has posted up an interesting article after having talked to their own source: “Remember how the alien took on canine qualities after gestating in a dog? You may even suppose that the first film’s alien was so recognisably humanoid because it had grown in a human. The same applies here: generation by generation, the creature mutates. As Prometheus begins, the xenomorph is not too recognisable. Sure, it has that alien DNA that Scott and Fassbender teasingly referred to, but it’s missing… well, it’s missing human DNA. Or dog DNA. All you have to do is imagine how it might look if it were to mix DNA with another alien species… and I think we’re starting to work it all out. I learned that the film’s setting is, in part, a planet that has been terraformed to create the perfect environment in which a particular bioweapon would prosper. Terraformed deliberately to farm the weapon? I got no clear answer. Is this bioweapon the alien? I got no clear answer. While there was a lot of wheezing and coughing on my end of the phone, there was a good deal of quiet smirking on the other, it seems.” --------------------------------------- According to the UK paper Daily Mail a further three cast members have joined Prometheus, Idris Elba, Sean Harris and Kate Dickie: “Elba will be best known to CBMers as playing Roque in The Losers as well as Heimdell in Marvel’s upcoming Thor of course. Harris you may recognize from Harry Brown with Michael Caine, or from the original Red Riding trilogy with Andrew Garfield. Scottish actress Dickie will most likely not be well known to US readers but she starred in the bleakly brilliant Red Road in the UK.“ --------------------------------------- Following on from the previous news report, Daily Mail also talked to Ridley Scott and he’s only gone and made things even more confusing: “Prometheus, Ridley declared, was not — as some have suggested — a prequel to his classic sci-fi shocker Alien. But he refused to divulge more.” He also mentions production will start on Prometheus in 3 weeks and that he is really trying to keep the film in complete secrecy. “I was insistent that the script not leak onto the internet, where it gets dissected out of context, which spoils it for everyone.” In regards to an unspecified cast member the article said: “Indeed, one of his actors told me that he could recite the entire screenplay to me — but then he’d have to wrestle me to the ground and, this was related in the nicest possible way, ‘kill me.” --------------------------------------- Aint It Cool News recently reported that Prometheus will be filming in Scotland: “The Scottish Daily Express reported today that Inverness or Fort William in the Scottish Highlands will be the production base for an August and September shoot. According to the article, other mountainous parts of Europe had been considered but the Scottish Highlands best suited the film’s theme of “grand mythology and the universe” (the relative proximity to Pinewood Studios in England where the rest of the film is shooting wouldn’t have hurt either). --------------------------------------- |
Small update.

The direction? It will be a Back to the future style, long before Sigourney took it up with the Alien. Then i saw the date the article was written.:O: |
