Dignan 03-18-11 04:20 PM

I would also like to know. I have this problem too and I have CTDs so I'm not sure if it matters or not.

drakkhen20 03-18-11 04:23 PM

no i've noticed it and i dont have any problems with stock silenthunter unless i modd it and one of my mods conflick but i know that has nothing to do with it. i have the latest drivers but i would like to know how he did.

DirectX

I'm getting pretty good FPS until warships show up and start shooting. Then I get a lot of lag. I'm wondering if my DirectX version may be to blame. I'm running DirectX 9.0c.

SHould I and can I update it to version 11?

Is it dependent on the operating system (Windows XP32) or the video card (GTX 460)

XP can only run DirectX9. DirectX10 and DirectX11 are Vista/Win7 only.

Ok, thanks. That's what I thought but its been a while since I dealt with DirectX so I couldn't remember.

Second question...I'm getting a lot of lag when there are explosions and fire. I've applied the antilag fix, turned off vertical sync and lowered particle effects but I still get stuttering when there are explosions. Are there any other quick fixes that are well known that I'm missing to remedy this? My new GPU should eat these graphics for lunch????

WinXP32
GTX 460
e6700
3 gigs ram

Try turning your shadows slider down in the graphics options. Might also try a lower screen resolution.

so what drivers are you using? 197.xx? does it improve your game perfomance?

I'm using driver 266.XX and this year old game doesn't run as good as brand new games like dragon age 2 and assasins creed 2 or shogun 2 total war...

Trondheim77 04-25-11 09:53 AM

grapick driver

yes i use 197xx driver and the game runs much bether now!:DL

Im also getting this same problem, CTD's all the time and dont think its my mod order,I have the latest version of nvidia driver installed. i remember when i installed SH5 it said needs driver version 197.??? cant remember which one it asked for so ive looked at archived drivers for nvidia its either driver version 197.13, 197.25, 197.45 or 197.57

Does anyone know which of these ones it was?

Also how do i downgrade from my current driver version to an older one?

Cheers,

Ahoy renthewog

Actually, I had the same screen popup on install so I downloaded the very latest drivers for my ASUS notebook. This turned out to be Verde 285.62/ release date 10.24.2011 for Windows7, 64bit.
After loading this driver, I didn't get any more promting and the game seems to run OK but it's got some jerkiness looking through the Binocs (not all the time, just sometimes), but then again, I'm not sure if the game is still a bit buggy anyway. I'm used to having to mod the SH games up to get rid of just this kind of junk.
This lastest graphic "bugginess" I expect to work on a bit more before I say "that's good enough". I digress, I might try to roll back the drivers and see if that is the ticket as it seems to be for T77.
You can rollback your driver version from your computer Control Panel/Devices and click on your video card, one of the tabs on the folder should say "driver", hit that tab and one of the buttons says'Rollback Driver'. The other way is to simply go to the nvidia driver downloads page on the web.
Hope you get it sorted out. I'll try and see if my rollback works and I'll tell you if it indeed did.
Until then...Good Hunting :salute:
PS: The post below looks promising as well, and I will probably give that a go first!

Dogfish40 12-06-11 11:49 AM

Another mod for Lagging

Sober sent another mod for lagging and that jerkiness weirdness. Here; http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=file&id=2871

Also he mentions to NOT use JSGME to install it but to place it in the 'Main Game Folder'. Sober also left this adjustment to [config]?
Render Ahead Limit=2
FPSlimit=32
I'm going to try this out tonight as well and see if I can't get rid of some of this jerking and Lagging. It's not terrible but I think the lagging caused a CTD last night in the electric motor room when I went to talk to the crewman.
Hope this helps, Good Hunting
PS; And Sober! Thanks again for your help, I hope I got everything correct. :salute:
