As long as the ban doesn't include my favorite "negative" ad of the season, which never fails to make me chuckle.

Three employees of some unnamed company - and apparently the only three people who work there - are standing around their office kvetching about how many jobs have been lost on the incumbent candidate's watch, and wondering aloud how long it will be before their own jobs are in jeopardy.

Meanwhile in the background, you can hear the phones on their desks ringing... and ringing... and ringing... and ringing... and none of them can be bothered to pick up a phone and answer it. Because they're all too busy standing around worrying about losing their jobs.

:har:

Hey, you know what might help you not lose your job? ACTUALLY DOING IT WHILE IT'S STILL THERE TO BE DONE, MORONS. :nope:

The Third Man 10-27-10 07:55 PM

I consider myself moderate. I want the greatest possible change at all time. Because as a child I believe change is good.

That's hilarious! :har:

My favorite around these parts was the 'Big Bad Debt' ad, complete with a butchered version of 'Big Bad John' playing in the background. It was awful. :haha:

Women's rights . really? No such thing. If it isn't a human right it isn't a womans s right.

Not that I am a hippie, but Metalheads and hippies aren't too far apart. In fact Metalheads (and Metal) pretty much originated from them.

Hippies, they are commies in disguise!:arrgh!:
but seriously though, I am sick of anti war, anti imperialism, anti capitalism
don't those hippies know that the army are protecting there ungrateful asses?
And anyways, their parents were capitalist enough so that they have enough money to lead their anti capitalist lifestyle

Platapus 10-27-10 08:21 PM

I am a moderate moderate or would that make me an extreme moderate. How about an extremist moderate of the central fringe? I like that. :yep:

Now if only we had a political party for moderates...

frau kaleun 10-27-10 09:58 PM

I'm not a hippie, but I am a pacifist.

Of course before anyone comments on that, you should be aware that just cuz I'm a pacifist it don't mean I won't kick your a$$. :O:

Good one.

Otherwise, I don't really hide the fact that my political views are fairly moderate when it comes to individual rights, and fairly radical (on the left side of things, that is) when it comes to macro-scale socioeconomics. But somehow that doesn't make me go rubbing cheap slogans and labels in people's faces all the time...

Seriously, have you ever thought about what any of those words actually mean?

Sledgehammer427 10-27-10 10:23 PM

I'm to the point that I'm not going to vote for anyone because each campaign ad I see contradicts the other. I live in a TV Viewing area that covers both Iowa AND Illinois. So I get to see campaign ads for both. and they are all ridiculous.

Tropicana Orange Juice

I oppose:

Quietism
Extra-Centric Thought

In seriousness, I already gave a decent summary of my views earlier today in a different thread. You can look them up if you are that interested.

Funny, I was about to put up something similar!

Although I'm completely for Extra-Centric Thought and The Petrov, and against Botulism and all manner of orange juice (except home-squeezed).

Sailor Steve 10-28-10 12:16 AM

I'm for:

Reason.
Honesty.
Integrity.

This unfortunately leaves me without much to vote for.

Against:

Anyone who believes that he has the right to save me from myself, or do anything "for my own good".
'Isms' of any kind.

I won't argue with that, but a lot of it depends on how you define the term. I'm for a free market, but captitalism as a philosophy is less than ideal as far as I'm concerned. Don't get me wrong - so is every other 'ism' philosophy I've met.

Perhaps we have a different definition of "hippies". I protested against the Vietnam War. I went to Vietnam. I came back and protested some more. They were wrong to blame the men and women who fought there, because young people are often not ready to make the judgement calls required to go, or not go, but they were right to protest the government that sent us there in the first place, as the motives for that war are still questionable at best.

I have just as much respect for the boys who went to jail, or to Canada, as for the ones who went to Vietnam. Most of both did so based on their ideals, and most of both were willing to pay a price for those ideals.

Not all of us are ungrateful. Just call me a hippie warrior.

CCIP 10-28-10 01:12 AM

Well, by the_tyrant's apparent views, I think it's safe to say that his ideal form of government seems to be something like a military junta. Looking at history, those have sure always turned out, ahem, great :hmmm:
