I like forums but it's a fool who would let them run his life.

No, I do not dedicate every waking hour to the forums.

CCIP 10-27-10 03:05 PM

You're asking this question on a forum.

I sense failed irony.:O:

AVGWarhawk 10-27-10 03:10 PM

I use the forums for one of two things, 1. information and answers 2. interaction with others with like interests.

SS qualifies as a forum I enjoy interaction with others of like interests and some good conversation as well as off the wall crazy crap.

I'm also a member of two VW Passat forums that I use to get questions answered or find out about any fixes for problems with my car.

So if you change your car, it only gets Subsim left, just think how much time you get over, :DL

Good lord therapy may be in order here. :o

Nah, my next car would find me on that cars forum for question and answer period. It is a vicious cycle.

SS is really the most frequented forum for me. Then again my outlandish post count would indicate that.

SS is a therapy for some in a small but significant way. I have seen threads started on a member questioning joining the armed forces. Members getting dumbed my girlfriends. Family members that pass away. Forums such as SS go beyond just written thoughts and conversations. There is SS meets. Neal hosts work days at the Cavalla. I have met a few at the Torsk. For most I believe SS is very much more than just a forum. Hell, SS with the help of a few members got me to stop smoking. That in itself is a feat!

My forum habits
I wake up at 6:30
I go on Cracked forums and the Marilyn Manson, WWII and honker paste bars(tieba, its a type of simplified forum system)
7:00, I eat breakfast. So no forum usage
8:00-9:20 math class. Lots of forum usage, mainly paste bars(you guys aren't here yet)
9:25-10:40 science class. This class is slightly hard for me, so not a lot of forum usage. But I usually check here and anti-online once during this period.
10:45-12:00 Computer engineering class. Lots of forum usage, i mainly hangout here and on the Honker forums
12:00-13:20 Lunch. Little to none forum usage since I usually go to the mall or burger king
13:25-14:40 French class. No forum usage, since I am stuck in a portable classroom with no WIFI for French class.
15:15-16:00 break, so lots of forum usage. I come here, and go on the cracked forums.
16:00-18:00 Practice piano, have dinner etc, some forum usage.
18:00-22:30 gaming, hanging out with friends etc, lots of forum usage

The forums:
Subsim: Here I am simply me, but just a bit odder, and a tint weirder ;)( I will try to be nicer in the future though)
Antionline: the nice version of me
Cracked: the funny version of me
Marilyn Manson paste bar: the horny version of me(chicks there did good english skills:up:) I moderate here too
WWII paste bar: the Badass version of me(hard to imagine eh?)
Honker Forums: I have a ton of aliases, 11 of my aliases are mega trolls, 1 of them is a "nice guy" who give bad ideas but also participated in technical discussions.

As for Facebook, I'm not a big fan. I use a toolbar for it

All I am saying is that he seems to be eschewing personal interaction and relationships with relationships on forums.

Sure you develop friendships and relationships with pepole on the fourums but there are other pepole in your life.

Have you considered that many people that I know in real life are also on the same forums as you?
Its not the first time that I have met a friend(from real life) at a forum meeting

GoldenRivet 10-27-10 05:06 PM

I have two forums i frequent.

I check them both in the morning before i start my day. (of course i also read news, check e mail and maybe chat with a friend for a minute)

I check in with subsim about a dozen times a day - (if i am somewhere boring and i have my phone, or if there is a very interesting discussion going on... I will check in more frequently)

My thoughts exactly when saw the thread title. Jimbuna, dowly, nikimcbee, frau kaleunt...and some many others...

Sailor Steve 10-27-10 07:27 PM

No. I come here because I love naval history, and the Silent Hunter series is currently the only way I can pretend I'm living it. Like Jim and some others, most of my posts are on the actual game forums, discussing the games or the history that led to them. When I'm not here I'm either playing the game or working on research, or playing music.

I've been a member on a few other forums, mostly dedicated to other subjects I like. The lustre faded from all of them for me.

So no, I don't run to a lot of different forums, or any for the most part.
