Which Sound do you guys use??
I though Thompsons sound pack was the norm.. But I am realizing the more I use it (its good though) The more sounds I loose over time..
What are some other good options ? THANKS! |
I use the Das Boot Sound Mod, plus a few extras I've picked up along the way.

I use a soundpack of my own creation [of a sorts]. I took several different sound packs ... took the best of those ... combined them ... remixed almost every sound file in them ... and made my own custom sound pack thing. But uh, for german Sailor Steves Das Boot sound pack is a pretty nice one.
However, for SH3 ..... I believe you can just set the voices to german in setup or options ... its been a while since I have thought of it as I have mine set to german voices all the time. |

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...do=file&id=978 And a little fix: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...o=file&id=1528 You might want to download every sound mod you can find, since there are always new sounds out there, and they are easy to drop into the proper slots in the 'Sound' folder. And any sound file works fine with GWX or any other supermod. As Capt. Teach said, be sure the 'Voice' option is set to German. |
WOW! Thanks for the tip! I had no idea I was to set the voices GERMAN.. I don't speak a lick of the language but, I don't really need to know the words as I can tell by the tone :)
Thanks again! |
Do I have to redo the install to set it to german??

I simply use the sounds that came with GWX plus a few tweaks of my own. |
Is the English national anthem included,

I use a customized sound pack myself. There are so many great sound mods out there, it's best to try them out. I think you'll find no single sound pack gives you your preference for every sound, so your best bet is to mix-and-match individual sounds.

Not again, aaaaaaargh! :rotfl2: |
Does this fix the issue in default GWX where the crash dive background sounds cease when the CE announces "current depth 10 meters"?
|
With DBSM the file plays all the way through.

Do I treat DBSM and the fix as normal mods (Putting in folders in the MODS section for JSGME) or just copy straight into the base folder?

All the ones I found so far are, into the mods folder and then JSGME ready. |
So I put the DBSM and the Fix both in seperate folders and put them into the MOD section but Im not sure if Im getting the right sounds?? every time I click on the CE for example and give him an order i get (Yes Captain[In german of course]) and then he calles out what I ordered (Dive, etc etc) I have it set in German and it still sounds like the same monotonous stock tones, what all sounds does the DBSM include??

DBSM changes about 70% of the 'Speech' files. When you call for periscope depth it should go directly to Jurgen Prochnow announcing it, and then a full dive routine combining sounds from the stock game and sounds from the movie. Just double-checked - my bad. Once you open the zipped folder you will find a folder labeled 'DBSM for SH3'. Inside that are a couple more folders. The 'DBSM' folder goes into JSGME, NOT the outer 'DBSM for SH3' folder. The other folders contain a couple of alternate sounds. Every time a depth charge hits the water you'll hear splashes and Hinrich saying "WASSERBOMB!" Every time a torpedo hits you'll hear Lumprecht telling the off-duty guys it hit, them cheering and him silencing them. I got tired of hearing them every single time, so the alternate files change those to a blank file for the torpedo hit and just the splashes for the depth charge launch. The bad news is you have to copy and paste them to all nine of the 'Speech' folders. Also please read all the readmes at least once. They tell what the different files do, and how they've grown, but most especially give credit to the guys who made the original for SH2. |
