Hope our Kiwi bro's and the hobbits are all OK. Maybe someone upset a Balrog.

Castout 09-03-10 06:40 PM

Nah their island is sitting on a quake fault.

Good thing nobody was killed

Konovalov 09-03-10 06:42 PM

Yeah I heard that the epicentre was only about 6kms away from Christchurch city centre. I've already seen some pictures on the news of damage. Brough back memories of the Newcastle quake years ago. Hope everyone and the sheep are ok.

Blimey I remember that one. I was 14 floors up in a building in North Sydney and felt the shaking and wondered WTF was going on.:o

STEED 09-03-10 06:54 PM

Are all 14 million sheep alright? :03:

If you feel just the shaking it's probably not that dangerous or immediately dangerous

however

If you feel the ground or floor literally moving rapidly in all direction horizontally you are most probably in immediate danger

If you feel the ground or floor literally moving in all direction INCLUDING vertically the building will most probably collapse.

Looking at the damage in NZ you can say they're blessed that nobody was killed. Good thing. To me Australians and New Zealanders are among the warmest people. Heck no wonder because they are listed as being among the happiest nations on the planet :D

Yeah, well I was just down the road from you in Military Road, Neutral Bay that day. :)

TLAM Strike 09-03-10 08:01 PM

I wonder if this is a precursor to Australia's planned invasion?

:hmmm:

Naw it was probably just the HAARP Earthquake Gun missing Iran again... :haha:

Task Force 09-03-10 08:18 PM

Last time we used that earthquake gun it hit Haiti, Hmm, it must be flawed.

I might sound like a nasty kiwi but Christchurch had it coming to them, they gave us north islanders flak when our power went down in the major city Auckland for 6 days, people weren't allowed to flush their toilets or take showers, hospitals were on emergency power, people died, the man in charge of the power had a major heart attack & dropped dead his wife said he just couldn't take the stress of having the finger pointed at him. The Christchurch south islanders never let us forget that our major city was down for 6 days. We use to say your day will come Christchurch is on the earthquake fault line dead centre.

Though im glad no one died from this earthquake as that wouldn't of been funny just many of their precious buildings will have to be destroyed, roads and water supply is down.

So yes what is funny is they will have to crap in a bucket for the next few days. :DL :o

Strange but us North islanders would rather Aussies has our neighbors than those blardy south islanders.

Can't understand why you'd think wanting us as neighbours as strange.:yeah:

kiwi_2005 09-06-10 02:13 PM

I take that back what i said, its worse than i thought we got plenty of homeless southerners wandering round and whats worse is they expecting heavy rain for the next week. I at first thought it was just the lost of buildings and there sewage system is down but those you can easily replace/fix. Some Southerners have lost everything. :nope:
