The LWAMI 3.11 Preview Thread
Here is a sampling of new ships and subs I'm working on for LWAMI V3.11...

This is the type of sub is believed to have sunk the South Korean corvette Cheonan. It is also operated by Iran as the Ghadir. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/pict...pictureid=2203 New improved P-4 class model. http://img823.imageshack.us/img823/9311/gumdoksuri.jpg ROKN Gumdoksuri class Missile Boat http://img815.imageshack.us/img815/953/kareldoorman.jpg Karel Doorman class Frigate http://img810.imageshack.us/img810/7179/lafayatte.jpg La Fayatte class Frigate http://img815.imageshack.us/img815/9365/delfin.jpg Cuban Delfin class midget sub |
TLAM Strike,
Strike your new ships and subs look great for 3.11.:) "Please Please" Make a Installer for 3.10 and 3.11.:DL Lane :) |
Do they really paint the La Fayatte like that?
Groooovy :O: |
WoW!!
Very nice work TLAM:salute: |

The new versions of the Yugo. There are going to be two now, one with 450mm torpedo tubes and one with 533mm torpedoes in drop collars. Both now have a simple passive sonar since a schematic of one that was given to me shows they have them.
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/pict...pictureid=2256 The one of the right is armed with internal torpedo tubes while the left one has the external drop collars. |
I guess this is to build scenarios in Korean waters...:hmmm:

With what happened to the Cheonon it makes sense. :salute: |
You guys in the mod community are great. In case no no one has thanked you recently, "Thanks".
Also, Happy Father's Day, to all who are of that persuasion. |
The South Korean midget submarine 'Dolgorae'. Its a German Type 100 class submarine built in Korea, she and deliver up to 6 divers or two torpedoes.

Those are great looking as usual in you
But what I miss in DW still is many more civilian (merchant, specifically) ships, as the ones existing currently have become too easy to identify. A pack with a dozen new different merchant ships with different signatures would make games much more interesting :D |

As for other merchants expect a Seabee and LNG in 3.11. |
Great stuff!
Japanese navy is really something we should not neglect. Especiallly its ASW AIRforce, even bigger than US navy's |
The new Narco Sub semi-submersible "Bigfoot I" type.
http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/3277/bigfoot1j.jpg http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/479/bigfoot2.jpg I'm working on a series of these for another project, but they will prob be imported in to LWAMI at some point. So expect to see some exotic ones, like a pair of true submarine "narco subs" (ie ones that fully dive and surface- not just run decks-a-wash). |
TLAM you are tempting me out of retirement.
You see your subs with double hulls, are you basically joining two cylinders together? Like with the Soryu and a box with the Sang 'O' Just a thought but something I tried when I was making similar subs that had a turtle deck and joined the main hull I cut away a hole in the main hull and the extruded edges and 'sculpted' the turtle deck. Meant I didn't have any wasted polygons. They are fine looking models though. |
I'm assuming you used the "Face Extrude" modifier?
Tried it and it does give the look of a tacked on deck. But I'm not sure what purpose cutting a hole in the mesh first does. :hmmm: Maybe I did it a little wrong? :06: If you every come back from retirement you are more than welcome in the LWAMI team. :salute: EDIT: Finalized Bigfoot 1: http://img709.imageshack.us/img709/3...hedbigfoot.jpg Tried a new style of mapping using only 3ds max, I think it turned out nice. |
The Mediterranean will no longer be safe... Here is a WIP shot of the Tir II missile boat. Built in Iran to North Korean Specs and sold to Syria. Its armaments includes up to 4 C-802 ASMs and a 7.62mm LMG.
