Has Ubi abandoned us?
 

Ive seen it happen with the EA,S godfather 2 game (only they didnt even make a single patch but the game was a little better then sh5 out of the box) they cashed in and they never gave any more feedback on the forums ever again. Seems like the same policy Ubi has now. offcourse its a big mistake to buy something arcady like TGF2! But hey i loved the movies! Sad thing is that they still keep the forums up for TGF2 which is flooded with people having all sorts of problems that never ever got fixed by EA . Thank god we have modders and a good community! Though it would be evil to compare EA with Ubi , Ubi sure is hell going down that lane with the speed of light!

Keep them votes coming people! Hell! maybe this will even be on a spreadsheet for Ubi converance on monday morning!:har:

This is probably the end of the road for silent hunter (IMO), they will release anouther patch probably, but subsim will hear about it through members in their forums. I think that ubi/devs are starting to part away from subsim.

Yes. No dev team. No more patches. Silence will reign. It's over.

Pretty sad, but what would you expect when aiming for your feet and hiting both soundly.

It was a fun run while it lasted but the SH franchise sadly ends with not a bang, but a whimper.

I was poking around on the ubi site trying to figure out why my cookies were all screwed up and came across this little gem. Under their "integrated profile" they ask you what your favorite Ubisoft game is:

You'll notice that R.U.S.E., a game that isn't even out yet, is listed. Notice anything that isn't?

Well, since it's a month after the patch and Ubisoft hasn't said anything official the whole time, I guess I'll ask them directly and see what (if anything) they have to say.

While I still think it's still a little early to tell where UBI will go with SH5.

I was shocked how many retailers offered refunds.

PC gameing software ? Almost unheard of if, at all.

We should all give a big :up: to the Subsim modders who made game playable.

That's incredibly cheap if that's the case. Reminds me of how DICE named their third Battlefield game "Battlefield 2", as if BF Vietnam never existed:-?.

Every one of the questions is speculation. Any of them may be the correct answer, but there is no way for anyone here to know for sure.

For me the series and Sh5 has finished!
Even if there will come a final pacth one day... it won´t fix any of these things hat make the game unplayable. instead of that it would contain some small fixes which are not realizable at all like the last patch.
I mean... the last patch took ages and ages and they kept delaying the eta without any good reason... localisation problems... yeah.. sure.
Also the made clear that priorities are now on their new super hit hawx2 and no more resources are left.
It is sooo sad... Sh5 could have become a good sequel of SH3... but in my mind they had no real intention to fullfill subsim cummunities wishes and ideas.
They wanted to release a new small revolution with easy access to the game for causal gamers... and they released a casual game which almost no one satisfies and gave the community a run for their money.
Sometimes it is better to keep old stuff and make a small evolution!
Imagine Sh3 with the graphics of Sh5....

Not that it matters, but I voted for the last one. Yup, I think its all done for. When the first patch took so long, and fixed nothing that the modders had not already fixed, and skipped things,that I thought were more important than the things that were half way fixed, I knew it was the end.

The only people that could save this franchise don't work for the company, in my opinion.

Did Ubi abandone us ? No they never arrived at the dock in the first place, we left them. Modders have taken something and ran with it, thank God. In time , I see a sub-sim simmular to a certain mega mod for SH3 everyone pretty much considers the Gold standard of sub sims.

Imagine GWX with the graphics of SH5 :o

That's what I pray for everytime I come here and look for new mods. The game has come so far in such a short period that I can see an Uber game on the radar, but not the horrizon yet.

And when it does, I hope the Modders put a bow of a ship sticking out of the water in everyport with the letters UBI on it.

I like that idea. Sad thing is, Ubi might miss the point and instead see it as free advertising. :haha:

Guys it's over even a 2 years old could tell Ubi is shutting this down for Good. Sadly, were stuck with this.. I wish they hadnt rushed production and let devs finish their work.. I had all my saves online and now, I'm using another computer, cant get them to download and synchronise..

It's BYE BYE for SH series...

I hope you're wrong about that, commandosolo, but any time I've visited a dead forum for a game I tried to get help with I pretty much knew the company had left it to rot. Haven't been to the Ubi forums at all, except to see kylania's post, so there's the extent of my knowledge. :-?

Where there's life there's hope.... Dan is still a regular visitor here and last posted only a couple of days ago. Sh4 went pretty much the same way after the first patch we heard nothing for a long, long time until the next patch and then the addon. In poor economic times such as these companies will always focus on safe bets, the SH series has given a fair return in the past and the fact that they developed iphone & mobile versions however arcadey shows they at least have some interest in maintaining/expanding the series however misguided the latest incarnations have been.

Hopefully Ubi will now look closely at why SH5 failed and return to the series core strengths. Interestingly every pro review & user review I have read of the iPhone version say the same basic thing reviewers whilst the graphics are good customers want a simulation and not an arcade game even on mobile platforms.

Above and beyond anything else though they need to start listening to and communicating with their customers not just their shareholders.
