Selling my SH5 (UK)
|
Is the Serial No not tied to you Ubi logon ? So if anyone tries to register it to there ubi logon it won't work ??
I thought I read that somewhere , not so much about pirate copies , more to do with stopping Re-Sale of the game. |

Unfortunately you cannot sell software that employ some kind of registering scheme.
What most people here on these forums failed to grapsp is that DRM is aimed mainly at killing the legitimate second hand market as well as discourage the casual pirates in the process. Even the most sophisticate copy protection scheme will get eventually cracked. But the second hand market is a pain in the ass of publishers. Unfortunately for them, several courts around the world ruled that selling a book, a vinyl or CD (just to name a few examples of content which rest on some form of phisical media) is perfectly legitimate and so is selling an used piece of software. The moment you insert some kind of mandatory registration tied to an account, selling the media becomes useless, even if there's no law preventing you to do so. In other words, the consumers get shafted once again. |
well, its no big deal giving away my ubi account either, i mean, it doesnt do much anyway.
|
Jesus, he's just trying to sell it with the account. No need to bomb the crap out of him.

It's the same procedure as selling ur account in any mmo game. I'm not sure if selling SH5 is covered in the EULA, I mean if is allowed to sell ur account. If not, there is a risk to be scamed as the seller can get back his account after he got paid even if he give away his account details. In WoW this is a really risky business and you have to be really careful from who and from where to buy a new account.
Anyway, this is not WoW and a high interest nor expensive game, so I really don't see any interest for scams. |

LE: Oh, and they also own your server stored saved games. Quite an entertining read really. |

" To create or distribute unauthorised levels and/or scenarios" :hmmm: Well, if one was to take that literally, or out of context..... Modders, anyone? Creating levels and/or scenarios :O: Obviously no dramas, i know that. I'm being pedantic. |
i can offer anyone who buys it plenty of assurances he/she wont be scammed, i have sold steam accounts before, against there eula i know, but the buyers aint complaining.
if this is against forum rules then please close the thread, if it isnt, please stop bleating on about eula, and scams. |

well im sorry if i misinterpreted it in some way, it just seemed i should expect a lawyer knocking on the door any time now.
but it is cheap at that price, so, please someone buy it :) |
I was just saying careful with ebay, maybe try to pass it on to a friend, you know...discreetly.

Your not getting it Rundeepa, what you are wanting to do is illegal plain and simple.
What you are asking someone else to do, is buy an unusable product that you are selling illegally. You aggreed to the EULA when you registered SH5 and created the account. And now you are essentially saying you dont aggree with it. |
Interesting, according to the EULA modding might be considered illegal, and yet one selling point for this game is it's modding capability. But then, if all the saved games become property of Ubi Scam (Soft, sorry) then are they stealing others' work (ie mods) by laying claim to any that are used in anyone's game via online save?
It begs another question, if I don't change the contents of the disc iteself, but, after loading the game onto my machine, does that count? I'm not changing anything that I purchased, only some files on my own machine. Is the EULA legally laying claim to a portion of my PC? I mean if I wanted to use something to enhance the performance of this game on my machine (read, that which must not be mentioned) and therefore install that something on My machine after legally purchase of the disc, that becomes an illegal act? A mere download of one file (non-pornographic) placed on the HD of my machine makes my machine contraband of an illegal act. So the game is legally claiming ownership of a portion of my PC and Ubi, by it's EULA, is claiming ownership to all mods used by the online save aspect of this game. I never read the EULA because I don't have any intentions of doing anything illegal. Just use the game on MY machine and that's all. Maybe I'm breaking a law just using this game and therefore shouldn't.;) |
i do get it, but why is it an unusable product?
i have sold steam accounts, i have sold lots of other digitally obtained games, i have sold mmo accounts, they were all usuable, so please tell me what makes this one so different to all the others?? |

Also - why would I buy your "used" copy for £10 , when I can buy a new copy from Amazon for £12.99? And the Amazon copy comes with a disk lol. |
look, i didnt start the thread to discuss, eula, or whether its legal/illegal to sell this, i just thought this might be a good place to offer someone a chance to buy it a bit cheaper, £10 is cheaper than £12.99 at amazon, plus you dont have to wait for the postman, you can be playing it within the hour. had i have known it was £12.99 at amazon i would have sold it even cheaper.
but seeing as we are going down this moral road, of right and wrong, so ubi will lose out if someone buys this from me instead of them, well, ubi has lost out because if this is the fuss that gets kicked up when i try to do this, i will no longer buy their products. lock the thread please admin |
