The Downfall

of Hitler parodies is nigh!

Copyright infringement over a 2½ minute clip? :nope:

Oberon 04-21-10 05:54 AM

Dammit, the best one of them all, 'Hitler finally declares war on Hitler Parodies' has already been pulled :damn:

HunterICX 04-21-10 06:13 AM

I forsee a ''Hitler discovers are beeing removed from youtube'' parody soon

LiveGoat 04-21-10 07:06 AM

They should start using real Hitler footage for parodies now. It would be funny to watch the collective handwringing over Hitler being one of the most popular videos. He'd be the next Rick Astley. :)

TarJak 04-21-10 07:19 AM

Being Adolfrolled doesn't have the same ring to it though...:D

Safe-Keeper 04-21-10 07:27 AM

Ah, they were growing more than a bit stale anyway. Not like they were original any more or anything, either, it's just "lemme take this clip that 10 000 others have taken and add stupid subtitles".

With the Hitler stupidity removed, it's time to move on to other films. Like everyone's favourite love flick, Pearl Harbour:DL.

TarJak 04-21-10 07:37 AM

A whole new genre has been spawned:

Well, I guess I can understand it, but these were hilarious.

Do those goons really believe they can contend with the power of well-established internet memes?

At least the Wolfenstein one is still there, that one is awesome...

Jimbuna 04-21-10 10:11 AM

Party poopers :-?

Time to roll out...

THE INTERNET HATE MACHINE!

I'm not sure how long it would've taken me to get around to seeing the original if it hadn't been for all the youtube parodies. No doubt there are a LOT of people who would never have known the movie existed otherwise.

So a big BOO HISS from me on this development.

Exactly. Constantin rakes in money from a movie with the greatest form of viral advertising ever, but then decides to shoot themselves in the foot by blocking it.

Old media has absolutely no understanding of the internet. What idiots.

Stoopid is as stoopid does.

I don't think it's just up to Constantin, although it somehow doesn't surprise me when Americans are supposedly upset when a European film company doesn't understand how to make money with nazi-themed Internet meme. I find this sort of ironic in many ways.

Constantin wasn't necessarily just interested in making money with Untergang, it's meant as a historical document of sorts. Also from what I know the Jewish groups have been upset with the viral videos so I can understand the decision to pull the videos.

Stealth Hunter 04-22-10 09:39 PM

I'm with the people saying we need to download and save as many of these parodies as we can before they're all gone. As many as we can. It's possible using the magic of websites like Keepvid. Perhaps we can start a collective website dedicated to nothing but the Hitler/Der Untergang meme. We cannot let it die so freely, though.

TarJak 04-22-10 10:54 PM

Looks like there may be a stay of execution in the wind: http://www.smh.com.au/technology/tec...ml?autostart=1

I just think it's funny that a company can't get it through its head that once a meme starts, its damned hard to stop it. Mind you Contstantin's PR depratment could acutally be exteremely clever in using this as a way of promoting the company.

Note the date of the takedown orders.:hmmm:
