So what got cut this time?
A few months ago there was a very interesting topic listing all the features that had gradually been cut with each iteration of the SH series. Now that 5 is out out I'd be interested to see it updated for this new version.
Off the top of my head:
|
Subnets
Minefields Land units Fishing vessels MTBs |

Subnets, mines and Land units have files No roster ones though and mines, subnets crash the ME when you add roster cfgs in Land units show but you can showboat in front of them and they do nothing http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h2...rchlights4.jpg No MTBs for any side and part of one fishing vessel is in the sea folder with most of the files missing  |

My response to you, Ducimus, was not intended to be insulting. If it was interpreted that way, my sincere apologies.
|
Apologies for what? It's not your fault I'm an idiot! :88)

PPPpppppsssshhhhhtttt... If you're an idiot, Ducimus, what do you call TMO? The result of a thousand monkeys pounding away at a keyboard? :D
Back on topic: SH5 (I'm talking stock SH5, not modded) is missing:
|
* no more complete crew management.
* no more full crew. * no more abilaty to give crew members medals when back from patrol (now you can only give officers a knight cross , and thats it) * no more captains office. * no more band playing when leaving/returning to port. * no more dead crew members (and no more funeral at sea) * no more crew replacements. * no more life in the harbours (exepct the u-boat pen) |

- a game interface, that gives the feel to play a WWII game and not Star Trek
- thin plotting lines on the map - many things which according to the Ubisoft Q&A thread should be in the game |

Don't forget about Britains lack of Air Power.
The fact that all ships have been bumped down a notch both in power, and rareness in sh5. I know this has to do with the lack of ships in game. instead of ASW trawlers everywhere we now have DD's. Where DD's should be we now have Crusiers. Where the BlackSwans should be we now have Battleships. Where Battleships used to be rare , we now have the everywhere. meaning: The lower vessels that were in sh3, tugs, fishing boats, have been replaced with Destroyers. Stock DD's don't do anything or shoot, so yes they are just fast tugs. Oh and Too many sharpshooting frieghters, these also make up for the lack of escorts doing their job right. Ran into a convoy at 36 X T.C. and every ship had 6 Boffers and 2 large deck cannons, one on bow and one on stern. I was shredded before I could even exit T.C. little lone give a crashdive order. The Middle units, blackswans, and crusiers, which were once in a while in sh3 are more common in sh5, but play the role DD's did in sh3. The higher units, Battleships and Carriers, which in sh3 were RARE to see, not to mention even more rare to sink are all over the place in sh5. I can't say that in sh3 I even seen a arrier more than once in four years, but have to comlete missions in sh5 of sinking one or two per campaighn ? The MEGA units, like Hood and Royal Oak, which in sh3 were almost mythical to find and sink, are now common place in sh5 and have been sunk more than once by all of us. This is the most...:stare:.....part of the game and I try not to think about it while playing or I just shut it off. This and the UNREAL amount of shipping I have to sink. You must sink 500,000 tons in 30 days, do not pass go, do not collect $200.00 untill then. |
I read these lists and I get depressed. The modders have a lot of work to do. I hope they can stick it out to the end.
|
Not to worry, it's probably the last in the series anyway, so just go back to playing SH3. No reason to get all worked up about content, or lack of content, it's always the same with sequels in any case.
