How do current Wide Screen users play SH3

Just want to know how the majority of Wide Screen SH3 users have their graphics set up.

Thanks,
G

On my new system, the game launches in 1024x768, but does not stretch to fit the screen. I have blank bands running down either side of the display area.

As above, big black boxes on either side.

KL-alfman 03-23-10 10:02 AM

on my LG L194WT (WXGA+) 19'' SH3 runs in 1024x768
but it's (proportionally) stretched to fit the whole screen.

Hanomag 03-23-10 11:05 AM

I hardly notice the stretch...

Pisces 03-23-10 11:28 AM

It's stretched by the graphics driver (nvidia) from 1024x768 to 1920x1080 (18"), but maintains aspect ratio. So with black bands on either side. And probably a bit fuzzier because of the irregular ratio.

Thomen 03-23-10 11:56 AM

None of the above..
I play in window mode. However, I wish SH3 I could play at my desktop resolution (3840 x 1024) . :-?

Bother, chose the wrong poll option. I run it in 1024x768 in the letterbox format on all sides on a display that's happiest at 1680x1050, instead of 1024 stretched.

Using Win7 64 bit and two ATI4870x2 CrossFire. I run my game at 1920x1200 with the res mod. I do have to boot the game at 1020x780, then I return to the desk-top, switch the res to 1920x1200(per the editing I did of the .cfg file) and return to the game.

Its great to play GWX at 1920x1200, its just so beautiful! :yeah:

Currently play with an ATI X800 Pro (yes,I know, its an old card) graphics card with a 20" LCD widescreen.Running in 1024 the graphics look somewhat blurred and stretched, but after installing the brilliant 'resolution fix' for the game I now play it in my native 1600 x 900,and it looks spectacular now!
I urge anyone with low resolutions playing SH3 to install the res fix mod

KL-alfman 03-24-10 06:18 AM

as I understand the *.txt file of the res-fix mod, it's not to be installed by JSGME but to run the batch-file in the SH3-root-directory.
is that correct?

Paul Riley 03-24-10 06:20 AM

From what I know, all you do is the copy the files that come with the res fix to your main SH3 directory, then open the .cfg file and edit the resolutions line, but maybe you already know this and I have misunderstood your question?.As far as I know you dont use JSGME any time for this mod, just manually copy the files to \Ubisoft\SH3
I havent had to run any batch file, all I did was edit the .cfg and load the game and I can clearly see the higher resolution has taken effect :hmmm:;)

hmmm :hmmm:

I'm refering to that file: "SH3_XPSP2_Res_Fix_for_1.4b.zip"
is there another one?

Akula 03-25-10 11:44 AM

I am using an 8800 Ultra on a 20" Samsung with native res of 1680x1050

When I launch it i stretches and there are no bands.... How do I do that?

KL-alfman 03-25-10 11:53 AM

sorry for cross-posting!

some of the problems could be solved by this new mod (released today)

Same for me. I tried the latest hi res mod but the intro/options screens, nav map and attack map ran in a smallish window, about 1/3 of the lower left corner of the screen, while anything that was a camera view used the entire screen, 1680 x 1050. I removed it.

Yep
I think Paul Riley is referring to this.

It's what I use.
No bat files needed.
Just drop in a dll and cfg file into your directory, edit the cfg to your resolution and you're good to go.

KL-alfman 03-25-10 02:03 PM

thx sergej!
already downloading ......

and I hope the new wide-screen mod can help to fix some of the graphics-probs as well.

Same one I use, works like a charm under Win7/x64.
