SH 5 ROCKS! New Review 84% from Gamestar
Holy Cow! One of the biggest three german magazines did review SH 5 and gived it 84%
http://www.gamestar.de/spiele/wertun..._hunter_5.html They praise the good visuals, atmosphere and all the little features |
A bit early for a review eh. :smug:
|
Supreme commander 2 is also getting scores in the mid to upper 80s. I swear the world of game rating sites has gone stupid.
|
but you should neglect the users' rating of only the half of it.
|
Heh, guess they forgot to mention the missing features! I wonder how much Ubi 'donated' to get a favourable critique?
|
These days when reading reviews its best to ignore the score and just read what they say. Is it full of bugs? are there other major issues? Because these days you just can't trust most sites/mags gamespot in particular.
|
And if they use the word "more accessable" for a game, avoid said game like the plague or lower your expectations drasticly.
|
How much money changed hands? :haha:

The gamestar sells well, but they often have no idea what they're talking about. SH5 is a good example why - shallow review. Its already discussed in the german board as well. |
Gamestar They don't know squat about anything. Struggeling for a reason d'etre they started praising graphics all over the hills and far away ten years gone. Faulty optics and they'll call in the troops, not that actual content could possibly have any value.
Their supposed "clintel" are just the folks that helped mess up the PC-market to the state it's in now. As I said, I don't try to offend, but I really don't see why people still read this garbage, other than some twisted sence of tradition. |
But if they had said that they had hated the game I wonder how the responses from a number of the people in this thread would have gone.
No, I 'm really not. I already know. JCC |

Missing features? Maybe you forget that there are people who don't have any idea how SH3 and SH4 played with mods. Vanilla wise, the game is a gem. But the bugs... those need to be fixed very fast or the game will be severely punished by reviewers. I thought the game would get a 2.0 because of them or at least a "we'll review this after it actually works" comment. :D

But I haven't read it in like 10 years. I stopped reading it just because the reasons you named and if nothing has changed since then, I think gamestar is still garbage. Just that I can't really tell what this magazine is worth overall nowadays. |

Beleive me my non-german friends...
"Gamestar" in Germany is what "The Sun" is for England :DL Andreas |

Well if you only look at those things then it is a 84. Rough seas are fun. Good thing this is a pleasure cruise sim... oh wait, it's not. |
Here we go:
http://translate.google.com/translat...3Fpage%3D0%2C1 :haha: I still think we'll raise this puppy to SH3 levels and beyond, but still... :har: |
...
in the middle of reading this review, a big Ubisoft advertisement pops up -- Assassins Creed 27. Know that reminds me of a different thread regarding Ubi and reviews/previews here...
Unfortunately this review doesn't have much "meat" in it. Not surprising for Gamestar, Andreas is correct. Not much details or facts, little to learn from it. When again is Neal's Subsim review due? I guess that has become more or less the verdict by which all subsims are measured... |
They probably just didn't have much time to play the game. Plus, if a freelancer did it, they might have picked one who knew little about sub sims, if he was available and could meet the (usually short) deadline. Not to mention the atrocious pay freelancers in the game journo biz get - they just can't afford to spend more than a few hours with a game, unless they really like it and can play it for fun in their spare time.
The sad truth about gaming journalism, trust me, I know. |
