Ubisoft SH5 Banner Contest

Greetings Everyone

Some of you know me and some may not. I am the Moderator of the SH Forums over at Ubisoft and I have come here to invite those of you who have an interest in working with graphics to participate in a SH5 Banner Competition. We are looking for a new banner to be posted atop the SH5 Forum as at the moment all it has is the SH5 banner from the SH5 website.

If you would care to enter the contest you find the rules for entering here. You may post your entries here.

Edit to add important info:

please guys lets not shoot the messenger here, cdrsubron7 is just passing on info about an activity that some of our members may want to participate in so lets remember its a link to join in a sh5 banner contest and not an invitation to complain about sh5.

Wohoo! I'm not gonna miss this one

sounds like Ubisoft is running out of ideas/has no clue how to do a banner for their own forums, and they are staging this "contest" for us to fill the gap...

The winning entry will be hosted and displayed within this Silent Hunter 5 forum*
painting/photoshopping something for a big company... no free SHV tshirt? nothing? I mean... that banner is a piece of publicity, for ubisoft. Doing something like that costs time, and brings nothing to the artist, yet feeds the evil corporation.
Its all about the fame?

And frankly, considering my own opinion about their politics...

*shuts up to avoid brig time*

i think its as simple as just trying to offer distractions to get the customer base talking about other things besides the DRM and its also a nice idea to boot.

nobody felt the conning tower emblem was done because they couldnt think up emblems of their own so how is this any different?

HundertzehnGustav 02-14-10 05:25 PM

well this one is different, defnitely.
The coning tower contest was a cool idea because it gave the fans of the series a piece of work they could contribute the construction of the game.
The emblems will be in the game, and its creator credited with his work. Cited in the readme files and such.

the banner, that is a piece of publicity for ubisoft products...
the creator gets nothing but a banner on a forum he possibly never visits.:timeout:
a Shirt would be nice in return, or a Coffee cup with the SHV logo or something.

A shirt with the dev teams autographs, that for example would be SUUUCH a motivator!!!!
:rock::rock::o:o:rock::rock:

The way i read this:
The messenger basically asks us to do publicity for ubisoft, and that makes me "wonder"... :hmmm:

Back in the day i helped a flight sim producer translate some menues, and what did i get? a CD with the product... for 10 minutes wof work.
(Firepower expansion for CFS3):yeah:

ok, i conceed your point

and IMO and especially in this PR environment a gold copy of sh5 should be the reward for the winner and that would definately get possitive interest

mookiemookie 02-14-10 05:51 PM

I agree. While the publicity of having your work grace the header of the SH5 Ubi forum is nice, I think a small token prize...copy of the game, tshirt, autographed copy, etc, would be a nice way of saying "thank you and good work."
