SH 5 Specs
I saw the specs posted. Pretty much what we thought.
Silent Hunter 5System Requirements* Intel Processor-Core 2 Duo E6850 3.0GHz AMD Processor-Opteron Dual core 270 Nvidia Graphics Card-Geforce 8800 GTS 512MB ATI Graphics Card-Radeon HD 4850 RAM Memory-2 GB Hard Disk Space-5 GB Direct X-9 |
according to that they upped the video specs from the 512mb 8800 gt and 4770 cards they originally mentioned we would need
|
Too expensive.
|
No it's not.
|
How weird - I already have all that, except for the graphics card. The problem there is that my system is old AGP, and those cards can be had, but not cheaply.
|
^^'Recomended' specs I assume.
|
All the mentioned hardware will be out of date by the summer2010... so these are really soft requirements for a new generation of games...
Try to play Bad Company 2 on that... |
Gaa... curse you 8800gts!!! lol... I hope the 300s come out soon so I can upgrade. lol:yep: (casue getting a 200 series now is a waist of money IMO...)
|
hi i have a nividia g force 9800 GT is that good enough to play silent hunter 5 i have the rest of the requirements

all 9000 series nvidia cards are 8000 series with a new name (and usually more ram) so your 9800gt and my 8800gt are exactly the same cards which means we are both SOL for sh5 |
I have a 9400 Quad-core 2.66ghz and 1 gig gts 250 video card running xp windows with 2 gig of ram

For what it's worth, I've got 8800GTS 512 and I'm not worried. ;) *All the upcoming games, such as Mass Effect 2, the new AvP, Bioshock 2 and SC Conviction, have a 8800 as recommended. My guess is you'll get decent performance with that in SH5 as well, or Ubi would be shooting themselfs in the foot. They can't expect everyone to upgrade just to play SH5. |

In fact the 9600GT isnt far off from the 88/9800GT at all :) |
i should be able to run it quite smooth.
E8400 stock at 3.0 Ghz Nvidia 260GTX OC edition 896MB pci express x16 4 gig DDR2 corsair ram. x2 21 inch flat screen monitors winxp 32bit home edition. :salute: |
I have the following spec.
EVGA nforce 790i Ultra mother board. Intel Duelcore E8500 3.16 GHz cpu. Geforce 9800 GX2 PCI express 1GB video card. 2 cards with SLI configuration. 4GB of ram Window XP Professional 32 bit. I have the optional of upgrading to Vista or Win 7 professional. Will upgrading the operating system have a big impact on the spec I need to run SH5. I though I would check with other members here. I doubt it, though running the game in DX10 might give a little performance boost.
Going to 64 bit would make a little more RAM available; not all of the 4GB you have now is actually accesible under a 32 bit OS. I think you'll see more gain from going to 64 bit than switching to Win7. :hmmm: |
Does this look ok , XFX HD5850 XXX EDITION 1GB GDDR5 GPU Clock: 755 Mhz Triple Display Model: HD-585A-ZNDC

Thank you Arclight,

I know very little about 64 bit. I wonder if SH3 and SH4 would run under Windows 7. I have seen other members having problems with Windows 7 and running Sh3. So, would Sh5 run with Window 7. Tweety |
somthing we dont know for sure if sh5 will take advantage of 64bit processing? and dx10 11?
|
We don't know for sure, but I suspect this is part of the reason they state 8800 as a minimum; they support DX10. DX11 is unlikely. 64-bit executable... possible but unlikely imho.

SH5 will surely be compatible with Win7, it's a basic requirement imho since a lot of people are using it already, be it the official release or still a beta/RC release. The number is only likely to increase. Sober, I know some people who swear by XFX, if only because they make some wicked fast factory OC models. I have a GF6200 from them, no issues/complaints. I've been in contact with their customer support about the horribly outdated drivers on their site, received response within 24hrs and the entire driver section was removed the next day, so I'd say they respond and listen to their customers. :D |
