Icebergs?
I notice that icebergs are in the roster, but i've never seen one in-game.
I've heard a bit about them but never got a straigh yes/no answer. Thanks :) |

There are indeed icebergs and sometimes you can see the whales swimming around them....in SH3 GWX.

They are there my watch crew did not spot them till we where 50mts away i think his name was Bernard:doh:, ended up with severe flooding and had to limp back to base.

in the single missions (GWX) there is at least one with a lot of ice in it. :D

Icebergs
When patrolling way up north I have seen a few. Funny thing is they tend to come up on the hydrophones as a very slow moving vessel like 1-2knots. Before I realized what they were I would intercept these contacts and find myself face to face with an ice mountain. Weird. Also, via the hydrophones I will hear "biologicals" very near these bergs. Whales I suppose....:hmmm:

Ah! Thanks for the wiki link, that makes sense now.... the word "berg" came from the Dutch.

Does anyone know if one can safely dive below them?
It's something I always wondered, but afraid to "seek the truth" about. |

If not, then by all means raise that periscope when you dive to the great dark depths of the sea and observe the icebergs as you majestically careen off of their underwater projections (or not... you most probably are a much better skipper than I). :DL On a sidenote, I love DW's High Frequency sonar at the 'scope. |

Of course you can. Just try it.....:DL......Just remember, there is much more ice under the water than above. Being from the North you would know that, wouldn't you.....? |
