Hello everybody

Hello,

My real name is Mike and i'm from Belgium. I recently got the game silent hunter 4 and i got hooked. Never was a fan of the sim genre, until now.
I am not very good at it, but today i finished my first succesful war patrol so i'm getting there. I found this site looking for info about the game and decided to join up, since i'll probably spent a lot of hours playing the game :)

anyways, i'll leave this introduction with this. If you guys want know anything else just ask.

(ps:dont know if this is in the wrong forum section)

Welcome aboard, your're at the right place. The game is great and with all the mods the game improves 200%, just check some of the better graphics in the screenshot thread.

Need any help let us know.

Welcome aboard, no doubt somebody will come by and advise you to "SINK 'EM ALL" or "BE MORE AGRESSIVE".

Until that happens I'll just say Hi.

Good Hunting

FIREWALL 01-22-10 05:09 PM

What that was all about is if your the 40,000 member to join the first member to catch it gets a free KOOL SubSim mug. I think you get one too.

Welcome !

Might I suggest before you start messing around with mods to play the game a while un modded?

Two reasons... First you can be assured you have a stable installation (no crashes) Secondly you can get a feel for what you might want to change.

But if your modding inclined and know how then by all means go ahead.

Whatever you do have fun !

Bethune 01-23-10 10:46 AM

That is a good suggestion steamwake and i am currently playing the unmodded version. I'll gues i'll try out my first mod in a few weeks when i'm getting the hang of it, and know what i want.

Armistead 01-23-10 10:56 AM

I say go for it, why eat a hotdog when you can have steak...Just pretend your playing it out of the box the way it should've been and learn it that way from the beginning. That way you don't develop bad habits.

Course a few days playing stock doe's add to the wow factor of mods, so you know what you're getting.

Bethune 01-23-10 11:02 AM

yeah i have the feeling that i dont know the game enough to go out and play mods. I mean i have auto target on and i still miss 2 out of 3 boats with the torpedoes

lorka42 01-23-10 11:22 AM

Welcome aboard, Mike. dont feel too bad about missing a few, thats how you learn, keep your periscope up as little as possible and get close (1000 yards).
that way they dont have time to dodge :salute:

Bethune 01-23-10 12:37 PM

Thanks lorka,

I just was on patrol and found a lonely merchant so i decided to take it down. After i fired a torpedo i saw it was an american merchant :damn: offcourse this torpedo does hit and the whole ship blows up, i guess i hit it in a critical spot.

Armistead 01-23-10 12:47 PM

We've had a few US skippers here that are good at sinking US Carriers...for some a shameful act with their level of experience.:haha:

Bethune 01-23-10 03:16 PM

Glad to know i'm not alone :D
