Tips on healthy beer drinking?

I usually just hold the open end of the bottle against my mouth and tip the other end upwards. Seems to work well enough, at least for the first few bottles.

Then I just promise the barkeep a really big tip, and he holds the bottles for me.

A tip on healthy beer drinking?

Don't drink US beer, Heineken or Grolsch.

Instead, drink either:
- Dutch pilsner (GOOD Dutch pilsner so no Heineken or Grolsch)
- Belgian beer
- German beer
:()1:

Note: any failure to follow the aforementioned rules can, and usually will, result in severe mental injuries due to the shock caused by the sheer trauma of tasting the aforementioned toxins

I don't drink, smoke, or take drugs. I'm also a vegetarian.

Yes, I AM a blast at parties!!!

Who else was a blast at parties?

Any brand names to look out for? I have an international market just around the corner with a huge beer/liquor dept, lots of imports, and chances are they will have some of 'em. Pretty much sticking to Beck's at the moment but certainly willing to try something different.

Becks is always a good choice.
If your looking for something different try Carlsberg.

My favorite pilsner is Bavaria, my favorite "special" beers are Hoegaarden (or even better Hoegaarden Grand Cru), Westmalle Tripel and Duvel

Probably won't have it but Saku, an Estonian beer, is pretty good.

I'm also fond of the Czech beer variety, brands such as Velkopopovicky (difficult to say after you've had a few), Staropramen and Krusoviche. Porters are usually good too.

Saku is pretty good, but the downside is that smaller shops dont usually sell it. :-?

Jimbuna 01-16-10 03:41 PM

You might want to look for a bit of French...Stella Artois

About Hoegaarden...I remember when I went from Holland to France on a bus and in France the cops took me along with some others to a random check. The cop asked if I had any drugs on me and I said I have one beer, Hoegaarden which I did have. The cop started to praise the taste of it, "Oh Hoegaarden, it's so sweet and lemony! Wise choice!" I don't think he was a very good drug cop. :)

Well, I'll look for 'em anyway - I shop at a veritable local legend called Jungle Jim's and I've never yet looked for anything that they didn't have. If it's not in this place, nobody around here has it!

But right now I will have to be satisfied with a celebratory Beck's, cuz I just completed my first successful mission and sank the bloody Courageous.* And no I am not stopping at half a bottle for each!

:woot::woot: :woot:

*Just don't ask me how many times I had to try it before I got it right.

frau kaleun 01-16-10 10:02 PM

Ja, so did I.

Good show!
Have a Carlsberg. It's the right thing to do.
