Couple of Questions again (Newb here)
I have it set at i think 97% realism (Might aswell dive in the deep end) as i have only External Camera on as i want to get close for the explosion hehe. So as i have the option on to get rid of marks on the map ect and only radio contacts appear for a short while how am i suppose to get the AOB when there isnt anything on the map to use the Angle Tool to find the AOB?
My other question is how do i rescue survivors? Do they have to be friendlies only or can i pick the enemy out of the water also? thnx in advanced :hmmm: Mind the punt |
well, try to check Video Tutorials here, theyre handy, many ways to find out AoB
And you can pick survivors only if u have Resque mission, check "Missions explained", you cant "resuque" enemies |
Ahhh ok next time i'll rescue them with the AA Gun...
|
Better save ammo for Air
|
Is there anyway of changing the difficulty to Custom for Campain, Hard option is fine set from the 2 options & that is Event Camera on & External Camera off i want them switch the other way around lol
Event Camera off & External Camera on :damn: |
When you start a career you will start in the office.
Click on the radio on the bookcase on the left, this will bring up the options page and you can set all the graphic and game play options there. You can only change career options when you are in the office. Magic |
You mentioned AOB, on thing I would suggest is downloading the mod easy AOB it makes it a elot easier when starting out with manual targetting, at least did for me.
Also I personally wouldnt suggest turning the map contacts off - at least give yourself some tracking chances at the start. If your using TMO which I think you are the attack map has the bearing plotter that allows you to see the impact point of your torpedo something which when starting out is useful! Think it's the Rocking Robbin tutorials that show this at work, as previously said by WitoldGritz check out the videos they help a lot. And finally good luck and happy sinkings :DL |
Hehe thnx all for the repliesm, I did do one mission yesterday.
Was a patrol and this RSRD is very hard i went to 2 diffrent areas, Never saw any ships at the 1st area then i saw 2 destroyers at the 2nd area but was told to not attack them even though they where IJN and then i was told to go up north to a Cargo Shipping route to do Anti-Shipping but only ever saw 1 Cargo Ship and it just vanished. But the Ol'Planes liked to bomb me hehe :O: |
Im loving RSRDC but its got me stumped, Im on a mission to deliver supplies to a Beach thats right next to a Japanese Port (U-boat Missions) and when i was given the mission it said about organizing a raft boat crew but i havent a clue of how to go about that any help?
Also is it possable to anchor your ship? sorry i wouldnt be asking all these newb questions but my game didnt come with a manual :shifty: |
Then u will be close enough to the beach ir marked area, and it will be secure arround, slow down and stop close as possible to shore. If everything is OK from you SUB will automaticly dispatch small boat and head to shore, thats it mission complete
|
Ahh ok ty, I stopped at my current posistion which has only 14m under keel and dont want to ground out lol. Thnx :yeah:
|
Seems it might be bugged for me, Ive moved directly over the mark thats on the map and its not sending out any raft for me
|
To get it to work you have to be at almost full stop and fairly close to the beach. Think I remember somewhere about 500 yards but I'm not certain on that.
The best way to get your boat to a stop is to wait till your about a knot then go back 1/3 then all stop. Just take the forward motion off enough I'v found. You should get the dingy launched then. |

Ahh ok, Im on the mark exactly and that mark is right next to the beach i think that close that the guys dont even need a raft tbh. Im at 0 knts.
Ive found if you use the button below your Speed Dial and click it so it has numbers rather then stages of speed if you drag the dial to 0 then it will put the boat in a fullstop completley. I'll wait for a few hours as i arrived at 11pm & its now coming up to 12am so i'll wait till about 6am and see what happens, Hopefully i dont have to go back out and come back again lol :damn: (Btw is there suppose to be any troops on the beach waiting for me, cos if so the beach is desearted lol) |

 Most of the "rendezvous" missions require you to surface ... meaning you must either enter the area submerged or, after arriving at your rendezvous point, do a quick dip under the sea then come back up.
|
Well i waited like mentioned and it worked had to wait till 1:55am for them to arrive.
Only problem im having now is that ive been told to go to a certain grid reference and sink 5000 tons. Cant find any ships what so ever but the ones i do it comes up with a box like it usualy does giving me a few options on what to do when the Deck Crew Spots a ship and i go to periscope depth to creep up on it and it dissapears. Whats the best way of getting close to a ship to even launch off your torpedoes cos what im doing must be very very wrong lol. Im looking at more vids but not finding a solution to my problem (Im know im probley becoming a pain in the arse :)) |
welcome
first, try to go after a merchant. If you go after a warship, it may end up coming after you.
second, read Rockin Robbins sticky thread in this forum. Practice the 90 degree attack (O'Kane attack). Watch the O'Kane video. There is a download of a video to practice. If it not there, send a private message to RR and ask him for it. You can practice in the sunny waters of southern california for as long as you want. third, see the thread (I just posted it) regarding AI and Sonar, so you have some knowledge about what you are up against. Japanese warships, particualarly destroyers (dd) and escorts (de) use AI (articificial intelligence) and active/ passive sonar to locate your boat. When you have sunk a ship or two or three, come back for more. You are at the very beginning of a long process, but one day you will kick some butt. Note, your deck crew spots ships that are WAY OUT THERE. You do not need to submerge when a target is far away. Use your radar station to find distance to target. Turn the dial with the Home/End buttons until you hear the target's props. (Ignore: At 180 degrees you will hear your own boat's baffles.) Then click the button near the bottom of the screen and you will be advised of the target's distance. You can stay surfaced with a merchant until it is withing 3-4,000 yds. Closer and it may fire at your and/or change course. While waiting for it to close, you can set your angle of attack (use the 90 degree (O'Kane) angle, which is a shot to the broadside of the target, close speed up your boat to close distance for an attack.) Try to get between 600 - 1,200 yds of the target your first time, so your have a large silouette to aim at. You want to be firing at the broadside of a barn if at all possible at the beginning. Let your torpedoes run shallow to ensure hits. Try to get into position early, so the target's cousre will take it right into your firing path. |
