and thats when it hit me.

Last saturday night I felt a little feverish achey so I went to bed early.

I had let the cats in because it was cold and raining.

Right around midnight one of the cats 'Scout' was getting into trouble and I rose from the bed to deal with it.... and thats when it hit me.

What was a mild chill became uncotrollable shivvering and my stomache started to wretch.

I made a mad dash for the bathoom, thank god the wife is outa town and the lid was up.

I sat there for 20 minutes puking shivering a pathetic hulk.

Once I gathered back my constitution I cleaned up a little and slinked back into bed and threw on tripple covers and shivered everytime I even thought about cool air. Every time I rolled over the shivers would come back.

Today is monday and while the wretching has stopped I still have a fever of 102.

I have never had something hit me like that before and I never want to go through it again.

I was like that last week, now my tonsils are so swolen speaking is painful :)

Onkel Neal 11-23-09 04:18 PM

Wow, you guys take care, that sounds serious.

Rilder 11-23-09 04:20 PM

The most cold weather does to me really is give me a runny nose but that is typical of all sudden weather changes really.

Then again I am pretty cold resistant I think. :DL

Love winter, would rather be cold then hot as you can always get warmer but you can't get colder. And there's a few fun ways to get warm too. ;)

Nothing that can't be cured with some nice brewski! :D

Anyways, hope you guys gonna be better soon.

Take some Tylenol, it will break the fever and you can sleep better until it passes.

Ive been taking alka seltzer cold remide and crawling back into bed.

I got up long enough to wash/dry the bedclothes afer a moring of sweats.

A fever of 100 + deg Fahrenheit can be very exhausting. If the high fever continues for more then a few days ring up a doc or a nurse. If even low fever continues for more then 2 weeks then visit a doc or a nurse.

Haven't yet had any flus yet for this winter myself, knock wood.

Task Force 11-23-09 06:44 PM

Im lucky... I never get this flu stuff... I love winter.:DL

I think a visit to the docs after a few days of fever would be my recommendation!:yep: I am usually lucky to get the flu about once every 10 or 15 years!:hmmm: Better not speak too soon though!! Hope your over it soon SteamWake, hopefully it's not bird flu!:-?

Don't forget to drink a lot of water. You are losing a lot because of sweating. Besides the water will also help to flush the organisms responsible for the illness out of your system.

TMI Here but...

Sickest i have ever been was food poisoning.

I ate what i assume were under cooked chicken enchiladas.

Around 10:30pm i felt just the slightest bit nauseous.

By Midnight the "flow control valves" on both ends of my body had been set to the "maximum purge / full open" position.

I literally had one end going into the toilet and the other end into the bath tub with absolutely zero physiological control over either function.

this process was ongoing until about 5:00am

Around 5:30am i took a loooong shower, and I emerged a pale victim of an unmerciful illness.

I had probably lost 8 to 10 lbs (if not more) of various bodily fluids over night. Iagonizingly stumbled into the living room and settled in on the sofa where i slept until probably 2:00 pm

this bout with food poisoning was like every drunken hang over, every flu, every spell of motion sickness and every ass kicking i had ever had in the entirety of my life all rolled into one...

for the next 3 or 4 days, the sincerity of every burp and each potential puff of flatus was firmly in question.

That night changed my life forever.

And i pray to God that no human being on this earth ever has to go through that ordeal.

I've had the exact same experience. It is not fun. Luckily my bathtub is right next to my toilet, because as you said, when you have it coming out of both ends at once, its horrible. I remember retching so hard that it made my eyes tear up. Truly one of the worst experiences I've had and definitely not one to be repeated. Mercifully it doesn't last too long.

I felt the same way when I read that abstract of Palin's book. :har::har:

Seriously, I hope you get better soon. You seeing a Doctor? :(

CaptainHaplo 11-23-09 08:08 PM

Been there on the food poisoning more than once. Hope never to do so again. Though the kidney stone I am trying to get rid of I ain't real happy about either. Thankfully, vicodin is my friend at the moment!

To all who are sick, who just got done being sick, or are soon to be sick - here hoping you heal quickly!

I dunno why but vicoden doesn't really affect me more then light drowsiness, maybe they just shafted me with some lighter dose or something.

Well yes but assuming that the waiting lines aren't that long, it's good to make sure you get in nice and quick. Last spring I got a fever and had to wait for hours to see the doc, not very nice after about five days in pretty high fever.

I'm still in favour of nationalised helth care, mind you. :)

I have had the food poisoning with obviously off chicken, my wife at the same time, not as bad as you but bad enough, took about 2.5 hours after eating, at about 10.15pm we were both fighting over who gets the toilet!!http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h244/Reecehk/puke.gif:doh: Lasted till dawn!!

Well I finally seem to be on the mend. While the fever is still there it has dropped dramatically.

Last nights sleep was full of fits and starts tosses and turns and lots and lots of sweat.

So I appear to be on the revovery trail.

Worst part is though I called the office to tell them I would be out again today but was felling a little better and may be in tommorow.

10 minutes later my effin ahole boss calls and tells me that "We need to send .pdf plots to the client today by noon." Of course no one else there knows how to do that and there is no way i would have enough patience to walk that stupid ass cadd tech through it so I had to drag my sorry butt outa bed, get cleaned up and go into the office. I was so tempted to spit in his coffee cup. :stare:
