Another Periscope Mod

This Mod adds totally new periscope views for both the attack and obs periscope.
I have included one version for regular stuff, and one for integrated orders.
The reason for this was I was sick of both periscopes looking the same, so I looked around and found that their was a mod made by Hitman that
gave NYGM the proper periscopes, but that was for NYGM and I use GWX, so I did some editing of the TGA files, and made this for GWX using
the data files from Church's periscope mod.
So really all I did is combine the great work from these two!
Also, I used the darkened UZO, i didn;t make this either, but I can't seem to remember who did, I've used it for so long, it must have been
three years ago that i donwloaded this, so if it's yours, please speak up!
I also included an alternate UZO, so if you wish, just rename the file that's called "UZO (altenrnate)" to "UZO". (both files are in the Gui
file.
A Reader doc is included about german periscopes, this was provided by Hitman.
JSGME Ready!

Hitman (TGA files and Doc)
Church (Data files for 2 seperate periscope views)
Whoever made that UZO TGA (Darkened UZO TGA)

******Could one of the moderators upload this to subsim for me, as I'm not sure if mediafire deletes from people with free accounts or not.

For SH3 all you need to do is press Ctrl-F11 and it takes a screenshot (in color :smug:) and places it in your game folder.

U-48Kriegsmarine 11-01-09 07:49 PM

:damn: REALLY! Ah well, now I know!

Anyway, I forgot to mention, the writing on the panels are in German, THIS IS NOT PART OF THIS MOD, that stuff is in a separate mod whose name escapes me...

Reece 11-01-09 08:21 PM

And if you use the hi-res mod then just press the "Prt Scr" key!!:yeah:

U-48Kriegsmarine 11-01-09 09:15 PM

Hi res mod?

Reece 11-01-09 10:58 PM

Gee, I've opened up a can of worms!!:D Just kidding!:yep:
The Hi-Res mod allows you to run SH3 in modes other than 1024x768, if you aren't using it then do a search, not sure where it is, if you can't find it I will upload it.
Note that it will display in wide mode but stretches the image to fit the display.

Hitman 11-02-09 07:49 AM

Unfortunately the markings I added to the screen are useless if keeping the standard zoom, as you have done (This is why you see both reticules, old and new) :damn:

But keep the good job, it's nice to see more and more people coming with ideas and combinations of existing stuff

Tried it, wasn't really what I was lookin' for. That's why I made this mod, as far as I can tell, it has the most historically correct views so far (that doesn't modify cameras.dat)

Anyway, thanks hitman for the great tga's, can;t thank enough everyone for allowing me to use their material!

you are 'missing' something critical here U-48Kriegsmarine !

the modifications at cameras.dat are necessery for the optics to work properly. if you want to combine things ....you have to know what exactly must done to the optic's values at cameras.dat too ! read again ...what Hitman told you

My pleasure, it's always nice to see people with enthusiasm and taking the first steps towards creating mods and new stuff. Today is a compilation of mods, tomorrow it might be already a rework of others, and then sooner than you think you might end up doing new things from scratch for everyone to enjoy :yeah:

No no no, what I meant was, that didn't stray from the original camera.dat file, as this mod contains no camera.dat file, it doesn;t mess with the periscope values, all it does is change the way the periscope view looks to the user. This is done by editing tga files. The reason I wanted something that didn;t edit the cameras.dat was because I love the widescreen mod so much.

I think it is you that needs to read the first post first.

Anyway, this is only me second mod (I made one for the pics in the radio room a while back) sooo, its not flawless, but it works!

nevermind.....it is not as you say but...you don't want to learn also !

bye

U-48Kriegsmarine 11-04-09 08:43 PM

???????

you mean about the markings? can't the tga with those markings be edited, getting rid of the one's in the stock?

or dos the cameras.dat indeed need to be modified so that they overlay one another, i don't think i quite understand.

Now that is interesting.......I have a screnn resolution of 1152 X 864...for no particular reason..lol...just was like that when I bought the flat screen...But I did not know what this "Hi Res" mod was for resolution other than 1024X768.... Stupedily I thought it had to do with high resolution images ..(I.E Texture, etc...):D I'd really like to know where to find it....Thank a lot for the info....:haha:
