What about Jürgen Oesten?
I was wondering if Jürgen Oesten is still giving advice to the dev team :hmmm:
That man surely knows more about the u-boat war than any of us. I hope you're not gonna announce me that he passed away! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J%C3%BCrgen_Oesten |
And i can`t find the interviews anymore....
|
That would be cool! But if he was technical adviser for SH-3 what could he possibly add to sh-5? I,m sure he gave the information he new
|
This would still be cool. Because I think it makes a difference wether someone like him monitors the development of the game in its process or it is just remembered what he had said 4 years ago.

Just had to say this: I have a hand signed autographed picture & U-Boat print (multiple) of Jürgen Oesten!!

Where did you get that then? |

SH5 must have a lot more depth, so he could still give some very useful advice (particularly with crew interaction and reaction) and add to realism. The man spent nearly 600 days on patrol, i'd be surprised if he would have told everything he knew, but i may be wrong. http://www.uboat.net/men/oesten.htm |

It is odd that in the Jürgen Oesten interviews he states clearly that they had no devices to detect thermal layers, and they certainly didn't have someone calling it out. One of the people doing the interview (someone on the dev team?) specifically questions him on it, he says no. Didn't happen. The interviewer says that it is interesting, and mentions that they had it in SHII.
Makes you wonder why then, with that info from a veteran of the U-Boat service, they still included it in SHIII ( and 4). |

In the UK they have the very best on War I(I) such as the Imperial War Museum and Royal Air Force Museum. Both are fantastic. Funny they still have stock of painting signed by Otto, Erich etc. A good investment in these days! :DL Rik |
