US Marine puts US Congressman in his place.

This is great. A USMC vet has his way with Democrat Congressman Brian Baird. Very heartwarming to see real Americans standing up to these big government liberal types.

He made some good points but I'm a tad disappointed that the Congressman's response wasn't included.

So you have somene who worked for the government , gets an education plan from the government , healthcare from the government and if he worked for long enough for the government gets a retirement plan from the government complaining that the government should butt out.

No thats a normal division throughout this farcical healthcare debate.
If someone agrees with what is being said then the person saying it is a real American , if they oppose what is being said then the person saying it is un-American.
It's a wonderful division and it works for both sides , the fact that it is nonsense doesn't make it that strange really.
Entertaining would be a much better word than strange.

Typical right wing BS. Doesn't make sense, but it sounds tough, and that's all that counts.

He's a Marine vet, so whatever he says has to be extra-true!

"Stay away from my children!" Dey ain't go no need for edjikation.

He gets pissed off because the plan preserves the right that he cares so much about. Brilliant. Would he be happier if it didn't give him what he wanted?

How has the congressman violated his constitutional oath? He hasn't? But it sounded all good and tough, right? That's all that counts for right wingers in this debate (read: shouting match).

"The Nazis did X, Y and Z, and so have we!" They built an interstate, and so have we! Horrors! Because EVERY LAST THING the Nazis did was wrong and dripping with evil.

The Nazis took over health care! OH NOES! We must save the UK, France, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Italy, Spain, Canada, Australia, etc. They've all been duped into adopting Nazi policies! Sweden must be a Nazi hell! (Or a fascist, communist, socialist or Marxist hell; we don't care what the words mean, all we care about is how they sound.) We must liberate them at once! It's certainly not the case that these countries adopted national health care systems because they actually work, and work better than ours. That's impossible. The US is the best in everything that has ever existed!

And he is wrong on history. The Nazis weren't left wing. If they were left wing, why did votes for RIGHT WING PARTIES dry up with their rise in popularity, while left wing parties experienced a much smaller decline?

And yes, how dare this administration AND THE PREVIOUS REPUBLICAN ADMINISTRATION take drastic measures to try and stave off another Great Depression. It would have been much better to do nothing, and let unemployment reach 30%.

And the thing is, he actually had notes to read off of. He took notes, and that was the best he could do?

We conveniently don't know what the Democrat's response was, but I can imagine it was weak-kneed and pathetic. They have to start calling these idiots out on their BS.

What's funny is that for the last 8 years, those of us who protested the wars were labelled loons and un-American. Now all of a sudden protesting makes you a "real American".

Yeah, the guy's argument was so devastating, we were reduced to "Well....Uh....yeah...but BUSH = HITLER!1!!1"

It's ironic that you would write that, because half of what this guy did was basically say "OBAMA = HITLER!!1!1", which is just as moronic as the former slogan.

Just tell them what they told us for those eight years.

"This is America! Love it or leave it!"

As matter of fact I have yet to hear a conservative threaten to leave this country if the current president is reelected.

I'm sure all of the "I Support Our President No Matter What!" bumper stickers have become very slow sellers on the right wing websites now. :rotfl:

Remember the "don't tase me bro!" guy? Here's what O'Reilly had to say about him:

Quote:

On September 18, 2007: "It's not pleasant, but that idiot, he wanted this to happen. He wanted the cops to do it. He wanted to disrupt the forum. And to me, I think he should be prosecuted...Well, what about disrupting the peace? You know, this is what -- look, the guy goes in there. He's totally inappropriate in every way, Jeanine [Pirro]. There isn't one appropriate thing the man did. He wants to disrupt the forum. Security has an obligation not to allow the forum to be disrupted."
Funny how he's not saying that anymore about the town hall screamers, eh?

It's no more funny than how you refuse to realize it was never about what the guy was saying but that he wouldn't leave when asked. I didn't see that Marine in the video scuffling with the cops did you?

You mean like roads, passenger trains, police, airliners ,armies, fire dept.......but when it comes to health hell no.
The funny thing though is that with private health insurance you pay for what other people get , just like you do with car insurance and property insurance.
So apparently you have been living with "socialism" all your life and been perfectly happy with it.

Roads, police, fire, etc. are not socialism. They are common use items derived from the unwritten yet recognized social contract between taxpayers and government. There is nothing wrong with the concept of reasonable taxation for elements of common use. YOUR own healthcare is NOT common use. Nor is it any concern of mine. It is your personal responsibility.

The problem with liberalism/socialism is it abuses the concept of this social contract. It seeks to alleviate personal responsibility for things people should be providing for themselves. Under these terms, liberals destroy all precepts of personal liberty as anything can be coined as common use. The further we go, the more the liberal wants.
