So you have somene who worked for the government , gets an education plan from the government , healthcare from the government and if he worked for long enough for the government gets a retirement plan from the government complaining that the government should butt out.

If someone agrees with what is being said then the person saying it is a real American , if they oppose what is being said then the person saying it is un-American.
It's a wonderful division and it works for both sides , the fact that it is nonsense doesn't make it that strange really.

How has the congressman violated his constitutional oath? He hasn't? But it sounded all good and tough, right? That's all that counts for right wingers in this debate (read: shouting match).

It's certainly not the case that these countries adopted national health care systems because they actually work, and work better than ours. That's impossible. And he is wrong on history. The Nazis weren't left wing. If they were left wing, why did votes for RIGHT WING PARTIES dry up with their rise in popularity, while left wing parties experienced a much smaller decline?

And yes, how dare this administration AND THE PREVIOUS REPUBLICAN ADMINISTRATION take drastic measures to try and stave off another Great Depression. It would have been much better to do nothing, and let unemployment reach 30%.

The funny thing though is that with private health insurance you pay for what other people get , just like you do with car insurance and property insurance.
So apparently you have been living with "socialism" all your life and been perfectly happy with it.

Roads, police, fire, etc. are not socialism. They are common use items derived from the unwritten yet recognized social contract between taxpayers and government. There is nothing wrong with the concept of reasonable taxation for elements of common use. YOUR own healthcare is NOT common use. Nor is it any concern of mine. It is your personal responsibility.

The problem with liberalism/socialism is it abuses the concept of this social contract. It seeks to alleviate personal responsibility for things people should be providing for themselves. Under these terms, liberals destroy all precepts of personal liberty as anything can be coined as common use. The further we go, the more the liberal wants.
