Anno 1404
I got the game yesterday, played for what felt like an hour, but it was 3,5!
Anybody else got this game?Any opinions? Another great sequal to a very nice game genre, graphics are beautifull and detailed. |
I got this game and I'm enjoying it.
I noticed the same, this game is a time burner, time elapses faster than perceived... The sequence of missions adds a trigger so it doesn't become boring |
For some reason it "zooms", causing the outer edges of the picture to disappear off the screen. I have a feeling it's because my primary monitor is a CRT (doesn't happen on LCD), which leeds me to conclude the devs figured "everyone is using LCDs nowadays" and didn't bother getting it right on CRT.
On top of that: install limit of 3, online activation, protected by Tages. Unplayable for me, too restrictive on number of installs. Fail. |
I have 1503, and love it. I'm thinking of getting 1701 if my computer can handle it, trying the demo now. I definitely know that my computer can't handle 1404. I've seen a couple of videos which make it looks amazing, the water looks awesome. I like the whole, make your own dock thing they've added.

For some of us less knowledgable.
WTF is the game? Never heard of it. What do's it do ? :DL |
FIREWALL, sorta like age of empires
Find an island, use resourses, build colony, Trade, war w/ neighbors. Search GOOGLE; Anno 1503 AD

1701 is better than 1503 in my opinion, I want to try 1404 but like I stated earlier my computer can't handle it. |
What kind of hardware do you own?
The game runs on highest settings on my pc,its 2 years old.. My specs are Intel dualcore 6600 Geforce 8800GTS 640MB 4 GB geil ddr2 800mhz memory Raptor HDD 36GB systemdisk WD 400GB HDD game/backup disk Its mainly the gpu memory that causes me to run on high settings, its amazing how smooth it runs so if you are under those specs you could try the demo and see how it runs.. I must admit i never played Anno again after the first part,i started playing CaesarIII and did that for some years, but i really like Anno 1404 alot, its very entertaining and time consuming, thats a bit of a drawback cause i dont play long sessions and you have to memorize anything your going to do with the game the next day. |
I have:
AMD Sempron 1.8ghz Single Core 5.50gigs of DDR2 Ram(even though vista only recognizes 3ish) NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE, with a total of 1071mb of graphics memory, of that 64MB is dedicated. 150 gig hard drive, of that 10 is free, but I've been meaning to clean it up for a while now. I have a nice AMD X2 Dual Core 3.0ghz processor still in the box, but don't have a motherboard to put it into. |
Hmm,single core would be too light for this game, the rest should be fine.
Maybe its time to buy that motherboard?:03: |
Because its a dell computer with an integrated graphics card, I'd have to buy a new case, mother board, graphics card, power supply unit, and fans. :haha:
|
Ouch..:rotfl:
I still have my old Dell,i cant trow it away it cost me so much money back then...waiting for it to become a classic so i can get some money back:haha: |
So besides the new create a dock features, whats new to the game?
|
You can download the demo and see if it runs. My computer didn't meet the minimum specs, but I was able to run it (barely). I also got the demo to 1701, and I actually liked it more.
But I still prefer Tropico for my island building game. |

The Grand Vizier will allow you to build an Oriental culture with two classes of people, the nomads and envoys, they have their own specific needs, for example they dont eat fish which is basic food, but they want dades, and goatmilk. The soil in the Orient is difficult to grow things on so you need irrigation buildings etc..its really a very nice culture. Also you can buy or earn honour points and unlock buildings or trade items and some special things like a faster sail for your transport ships or a good captain. There's Hassan,he's somewhat of an pirate, you can choose to trade with him,for which he asks an enormous amount of money,or you can declare war on him, which costs you alot of upkeep costs to maintain a warfleet to protect the traders.. I've spent the last days perfecting my economy to make as much money as possible to expand to another island and start a new town, the thing that just sticks out the most is the gameplay, the game is so easy and friendly to operate its automatic before you know it,it pure pleasure.. I will keep playing this for along time, allready have plans for another map to take it to a higher level.. A very handy tool is the production calculator, you will know exacly how much resources your people need to avoid overproduction and unnessesary costs. http://www.anno1404-rechner.de/index...duktionsketten I only played the first title so i'm no expert on anything else that has changed since the last title, but i guess the Orient is something new.. |

@Kloef: Yeah, the Orient is new. I need to hurry up and get a new computer. |

I have to say I love this game. I always loved to play Anno 1503 even though I'd end up going bankrupt and losing the game. I love the new Orient bit, and the ascension rights.
I just got the Venice expansion pack, which added multiplayer, I haven't really seen any of the other new features added, but I'm not very far into it. Although one new feature that was added was the ability to play Flower gardens, they're placed in the same way as roads, and can really help to beautify your settlement, especially since they'll fit in odd spaces. |
