Global warming is the new religion of First World urban elites

The really troublesome thing is that anytime they see anything which wavers from what the believers have seen in their life times it is man made. Yet with all their galant efforts toward change, no change has occured. The definition of insanity is?????????

No change has occurred?
News to me. |

Climate change is real.
Whether it is caused by man, and if so to what degree, is the question. But even if you can figure out that answer you still have figure out what to do about it without killing off half of the worlds human population because this silly cap and trade ripoff is not going to have any effect at all other than to make certain people rich. |
Only thing I would comment on is why would I want to listen to a geologist? It is almost like going to a car mechanic for medical advice...
Now granted he may know a bit about warming trends in the past from geology (not much though, those trends tend not to show up very well unless they change the geology in an area (like a glacier for example), most of what we know comes from the fossil record instead which is pretty separate from geology). But he is way outside his field of expertise when it comes to current environmental patterns and changes, and determining the causes of those changes. That he has papers and books out on the subject doesn't matter, like most books and papers out there, they probably are not worth the paper they are printed on. So why should I listen to him? |

Yes lets just dismiss this and continue to throw good money after bad. After all the goal is to overwhelm the system. |
Didn't say I would listen to him either.

Religion is about faith. Research is about evidence.
While it is clear that some of the people that accept the recent (and not so recent) research on climate change seek to promote a political agenda (including the aforementioned Al Gore), the very wording of Ian Pilmar leaves no doubt that he is more interested in that agenda than in his own field. |
Pretty much describes Tchocky right here:

Climate change (the looney left's new catch phrase for global warming) is a bunch of horsedung. Anyone that thinks the earth is getting warmer has never been to Thule, Greenland...
|
Anyone who thinks climate change is not taking place is not aquainted with the sicence of it, I am not talking about what Al Gore or other such *****s say, nor am i refering to what the gas companies are saying, look at what actual climatologists are saying.

Greenland didn't get it's name because some Viking thought it would be a selling point to potential immigrants.

"Collaps", that sociological-ecological examination of the ecocide of various old cultures by Jared Diamond that I linked above, is such an enlightening read, so I remind you of it again. And that critic in the overview which I picked to quote, also is so damn right that i also remind of the words:
"Diamond’s distinction between social and biological survival is a critical one, because too often we blur the two, or assume that biological survival is contingent on the strength of our civilizational values... The fact is, though, that we can be law-abiding and peace-loving and tolerant and inventive and committed to freedom and true to our own values and still behave in ways that are biologically suicidal. " It was a thick 600 pages reading that I just finished earlier this month, but it was extremely well-written and well-founded, and a joy to read. I am now going into his Pulitzer-winning "Guns, Germs, and Steel", which also won an Aventis Award of the Royal Society for the best science book. |

Make a 300HP gas guzzler that costs 20,000 to make and sells for 30,000 or make an econo box which costs 12,000 to make and sells for 30,000. |
