Most outragous moment

What is yours.
Me thinks it is to much when you can take on a Bouge class with five escorts and end up sinking them all.

Or how fun it has been leaving Bergen on my last three missions I have been caught in an air raid. Good thing for me I have lived through them all.

When I'm caught in an air raid and I order a crash dive... inside a firendly harbour.

Or fire a stern torpedo while aiming for a target infront of the boat

And the time I fell asleep while patroling and crashed into Canada

I'll ad more as soon as they happen

Pohl 06-06-09 02:06 PM

When I crashed dived in a XXI and in less than 5 minutes I was at 270 meters, crushing my hull instantly :shifty: .

In the middle of a storm with poor visibility I saw no less than 500m away a large merchant, ordered hard to port and barely made it without crashing into her.

Having the perfect angle to sink a battleship but I forgot to turn on the auto targeting in the solution screen, I still had the data from my last attack which ended in wasting a precious torpedo and alerting the ship :rotfl:

BulSoldier 06-06-09 02:26 PM

When i rammed a destroyer escort in a pitch black zero visibility heavy storm night...:yeah:

It was our top secret Canadian program during WW2 to develop continental submarine barriers, project was codenamed Newfoundland. :arrgh!:

crank that difficulty up to 100% with manual targeting... the result will be markedly different. :D

fisherstoys1 06-06-09 04:27 PM

crack up

I remember once I was on submerged looking through the scope and a TF with a Southampton and Dido appeared right in front of me during a terrible storm.
One moment I am trying to tell how the bad the weather is and the next a bloody cruiser is coming in. INSTEAD of hitting C I hit S and up to the surface I came nomatter how hard I pushed C. :dead:
Mind you it looked funny in one respect the British had a heck of a time hitting me but the Dido coming was the end of me.

i had my rudders and one propellor blown off inside the firth of forth (in type II) while facing in towards Edinburgh. I had to reverse all the way to Denmark, using only up and down to perform evasions!

Any time I try to do something good for the fatherland in a schnell boote.
:damn: CL

CastleBravo 06-07-09 12:48 PM

When I stayed surfaced and using the big gun I destroyed an entire convoy, including the destroyers.

Betonov 06-07-09 01:58 PM

Damn CastleBravo, did you fired nukes at them?? :salute:

There was this one time I got caught in an air raid, two planes, and decided to fight them. Shot down one and damaged the other. As soon as I started cheering the victory over the RAF another squadron was spotted. It was six bombers. Now that was a text book case of feeling like an idiot

Captain Birdseye 06-07-09 02:50 PM

Thinking I was smarter than two Corvettes and "teasing" them by going flank speed at 160m and diving deeper.

They had the last laugh...

I took damage but persisted on the offensive. Aggresive acts seem to be the key.

Fall of 1942 and I was heading home at the end of a patrol only having 6 torpedoes left. Came upon a convoy out in the North Atlantic at 0200 in stormy weather. Got to within 800 m of the first row and fired off all 4 of my front tubes at 4 separate ships-- 2 Liberty Cargo and 2 C2 cargo.. dived down to 100m and got messages for 4 hits. Waited about an hour for the DDs to clear, at which time I surfaced..

One C2 sunk, one ablaze moving at 0-1 knots, and both Liberties dead in the water. Now the problem was I only had 2 fish left and after waiting a few hours none of these ships showed any signs of sinking. I fired my last fore torpedo into a liberty and it blew up, and fired my aft torpedo into the C2 which just made another fire on its foredeck. Now I was stuck with a Liberty and a C2 with no fish left, and unable to use my deck guns because of the waves.

I waited out there for an entire week (game time) for the weather to settle down, and it never did. Frustrated and impatient I saved my game and rammed the remaining Liberty ship. Took her down before I sank from flooding a few seconds later!

I would love the option of using my deck gun in seas that aren't too stormy!

jimbuna has a mod on his FF page which allows you to use AA and the DG in all weather.

Synthfg 06-07-09 05:40 PM

Remember something similar when returning home from patrol with 1 eel left in the for tube I came across a Passenger Cargo alone,

Put the fish into her but she wouldn't go down,
rammed her, she wouldn't go down,
Jumped onto her deck, and tried to submerge, she wouldn't go down

ended up giving up in disgust

I found that if part of the ship is submerged, you park your sub over it and dive, that helps it sink!

BTW Welcome Aboard!:yeah:
