H1N1 Mutation - 'Swine Flu'

Quite surprised no-one has started a thread on this yet...come on people, this is quite obviously Obamas fault! :O:

In all seriousness, this looks like it has the potential to be a nasty bugger, let's just hope and pray that it doesn't fulfil its potential.

Could soon be categorised as the first pandemic since the 1968-69 Hong Kong flu :hmmm:

Not his fault at all. I don't much like him, but I am not going to reach to blame things on him (as some liberals did with Bush - example being his hurricane machine / weather control satellite). He (and Congress - they share the blamd) is responsible for enough things I don't agree.

Now - to the topic - this is likely going to be similiar to the Chinese outbreak of whatever the heck it was (I can't remember the name) where everyone flying ended up coughing their guts up and about half died.

The only way to build your resistance to the swine flu is to ingest massive quantities of bacon for the next 30 days.:yep:

A Very Super Market 04-26-09 10:51 AM

Raw bacon too. With a nice side-dish of chemotherapy, and tapeworms.

Every year or so, during the slow news period, we get a fricking epidemic. What was it last year, the chicken flu? SARS?

I'll get worried when it starts being, you know, a problem.

Heh, if it doesn't turn into a pandemic, I'm sure Obama will be praised for saving all of us. :know:

I'm watching the 10:00pm news that states it's ground zero in Mexico for this flu.

Seems it started there. Mexico City for all intents and purposes is deserted tonite.

I-25 04-27-09 12:12 AM

it may be a joke for all of you guys but i live smack on the border in mexico (tecate baja california) south east of san diego

11 reported cases in the vicinity already (on US side)

but for some reason i feel safer on the mexican side

id better pack my bags and go to denmark and wait it out and go to the subsim meet while im at it:yep:

FIREWALL 04-27-09 12:18 AM

No jokeing here. These killer flu's can be deadly to kids , seniors and people with respiratory problems or weak immune systems.

WTH i heard on the news tonight that Australia have a vacine ready available if it gets out of hand, yet in NZ we are in the process of making one which will take a few months! :haha: We fail.

(You really have to had played Pandemic 2 to get this)

Skybird 04-27-09 05:07 AM

You want globalisation and profane air trafficking around the planet - you got it. I think I fill my bunker with corn and water and disappear from the surface for some time. :D

I hope this internet wire is sterile? Can digital virusses jump onto humans, too? Nanites, maybe? Maybe I need starting to save for a Moon Ressort. Hope there are no virusses surf-riding radio-waves.

SteamWake 04-27-09 09:14 AM

Was playing a little jumpgate lastnight.

One of the guys lives in texas quite near the border.

Now maybe he was being an alarmist but he was saying that the incident rate / fatility rate were much higher than what is being reported in the media. He went on to say that things are much more serious than we are aware of.

Now I hear that the US is posted 'warnings' about travel into mexico. Not quite a ban.... yet. But outright 'closing' of the border is the next step.

All I know is I'm going to be alot more careful about shaking hands, washing hands, and using sanitizer... you know just to make myself feel 'safer'.
