TREKKIES! (no insult intended) HEED MY CALL!
so...im on the market for a Star Trek game (blame the movie...suppressed trekkie for 6 years)
I like kinda big kinda not-so-big with lots of micromanagement...possibly fleet control? I'm lost, and I haven't played one of these games at all, so please, help? |
(2 or 3 trekkie ive seen, KP is the first.) lol
All the trekkies are comeing out of there closets.:o |
The sooner they come out of their closets the sooner we Babylon 5 and/or Battletech fans get to egg them.
|
The issue is ST fans are not taken very seriously anymore by the Video Game makers.
The best you can do is Star Trek Bridge Commander with one of the mega mods out there for it. Its not great but it is something. |
Virtually all the games have been crap and there haven't been many at all recently.
Out of the ones I've tried I've always liked Starfleet Command 2 and 3, even though the dynaverse is pretty buggy (like time stopping in where nothing gets made, and ships stop moving and attacking on their own on the strategic map). The only thing I know of on the horizon would be that star trek mmo |

Star Trek : Bridge Commander + Kobayashi Maru mod = win
There was a fanmade Babylon 5 game. http://ifh.firstones.com/ For a fanmade game, it has some EXCELLENT production values. Still in progress. |

Star Trek Bridge Commander was awesome, easily one of the best ST games I've played
|
Startrek fleet Command 1,2 & 3 are pretty good i personally liked 1 out of all of them. 1 & 2 is of the old Star trek where 3 is of the next generation 'The borg' etc. 3 had slightly better graphics and toned down interface for new players to the game which IMO completely killed the series, maybe that's why there's never been a 4th.

I liked SFC1, it was a good game, but imho 2 (with the pirates) was the best, SFC3 was also a lot of fun. 2-3 were (and I think still) great semi massive multiplayer games. People still play both of them online to this day last I heard.
As for bridge commander, I have to say that I played the demo, hated it, and went back to SFC 2 at the time. |

This is where you have a Geeky friend who has these games hidden under his bed to lend to you. :har:
|
haha, actually one of them lent me his copy of Starfleet Commander 3, and im finding bridge commander
|
Seriously, they sound kinda kool. :yep:
Wouldn't mind seeeing some screenshots. |
Starfleet Command 2 is my personal preference for that series, and it's probably the best 'ship centered' Trek game. That said, it's based on Star Fleet Battles more than Star Trek, and some Trek fans seem to have a certain intolerance for that.
Oldies but goodies to dig up are Star Trek: 25th Anniversary or Star Trek: Judgment Rites. That's only if you like adventure games, though. |
Fleet Management styles you cant go wrong with the Starfleet Command series or Armada. If an FPS is what you want, go for Elite Force or Elite Force 2 (there is actually a total conversion for Elite Force that turns it into an RPG that you can play online, its called RPG-X)
Bridge Commander is one of my favourites, with the Kobyashi Maru mod; but be careful if you have Vista, I've had a couple of problems with it. Also, try and dig up the old Starfleet Academy game. Its a space combat orientated one, but with other aspects, like crew interaction and "WWCKD". Star Trek Excalibur is a fanmade project that is ongoing, but there is no fixed release date. I sort of want a Silent Hunter style game in the Star Trek universe, but I doubt that is on the cards. |
Star Trek Online is looking quite promising :yeah:
