Amazing Headphones for SH3

Hey all,

After playing with stereo speakers for years and years and years, I finally bit the bullet and bought myself some Gaming headphones, now I have used headphones in the past and headphones with boom mic, but they have all killed my head, I have tried many shapes and styles and they all seem to find pressure point and cause me headaches. Well my search is over.

http://www.trittontechnologies.com/p...s/TRIUA512.htm

Picked up the AXPC from Tritton USA these are 5.1 surround sound headphones and let me tell you the experience in SH3 is scary at best, you hear ever creak and groan in amazing surround sound the headphones even have a built in subwoofer for DEEP bass.

they have 8 speakers in each phone and you have 5 volume controls to set them up the way you like them, software is easy to install and they even have a removable mic. top quality all around.

My only complaint would be they are a bit heavy but the performance is outstanding..

I give them 4.5 outta 5

So if your looking for some great headphones check these babies out..

Nice tip :yeah: will take a look at them if I find them in my local store :shucks:

Where did you get them from, and how much?

My wife and I compete for volume control, her on the TV, me on the PC - it'd be nice to have a set of decent headphones.

Whereabouts in Ontario are you?

I found it at Amazon listed for $71. A lot of the reviewers there mention problems with the software on Vista. Apparently it works better on XP. If you have Vista, you might check to see if they have updated the drivers recently.

I only play SH3 with headphones. You can pick up hydrophone contacts much better and DC attacks really come alive. I just have a $15 TekNmotion with a mic. The mic is on a flexible boom and I just bend it along the headband so its not in the way. These don't have the bass response but are real light weight and comfortable. Only the cord is a bit long and tends to get wrapped around the arm on my computer chair.

Well fellas that sounds really nice, but its a little too tight financially in my house to spend 70$. Guess i'm just SOL untill I am recalled from layoff at work.:nope:

The Tritton looks awesome, but I'm sticking with the Sennheiser PC161. It's light... really light; that means less pressure on my noggin.

Thanks Sharkley,
I was looking for an up grade on a headset. And yes there's nothing better than to listen on sonar with a headset...adds to the realizism..:yeah:

I agree, ear phones are the way to go. I'll have to check these out.

Damn, this headset looks amazing.. i almost bought it earlier today, however i'm probly going to end up ordering a pair tomorrow.

On another note, one thing i do to add to the immersion of this game.. I normally have the sounds going on my surround sound system, but when its time to dive and listen in on the hydrophone.. i have a cheap logitech headset setup with a Y adapter.. put them on for the hydrophone and you can hear it just like in a real sub it would seem.

Those look pretty good, and at 7.99 you'll get your monies worth out of them for sure..

And best of all no need to svae the cash up for them as I did, now that I am on a tighter budget..

Oneshot/Onekill 03-30-09 08:23 AM

Yep. :yep:

I'm sure that the sound quality won't be top of the line, but how can you complain for 8 bucks. My main concern was comfort, and at least looking at the picture it seems as though the ear pieces are well padded.

kdv 03-30-09 10:14 AM

Sharkley - yup, figured they'd be around $100, will have to ask the wifey if it's OK.

Mississawgwa huh? Neat, I'm just down the road a few miles in Ingersoll (just before London on the 401). Wonder how many Ontarioians are on the board?

Yes, that was one of my main concerns as well. But thos Trittons are comfy and cozy. I wore them for a few hours and zero head ache and the sound was amazing, deep water dives are creepy at best and depth charges really do rattle your brain now.

Ask !?! I had to beg.. they are worth it. As for Ontario Folks on this board I am sure there are a few at least being we are in the most populated Province in Canada.

Heck I play SH3 with two local guys, one guy at the place I work and the other guy lives down the street..now that is local. We all get togather on Ventrilo to chat while on patrol..if your interested let me know I'll pm you some info.

Cheers !!

PappyCain 03-30-09 10:41 AM

I just bought a pair as backup. When I am not doing TS or Skype and on a SP sim or watching TV or listening to music and do not need a mic I use these:

http://www.meritline.com/dj-headphon...--p-33761.aspx

The L-R ear sets are not fixed and shape well to my head and the sound is extremely good. Never use my speakers in any SH anymore!
