GWX 3.0 issues?
 

I just downloaded and installed GWX 3.0.

1. Uninstalled Silent hunter 1.4B
2. Removed the Silent hunter folder
3. Installed Silent hunter
4. Installed 1.4B
5. Installed GWX 3.0

Went to play GWX 3.0 but it gets stuck at verifying the disc.

Oy, oy oy oy ,oy... I presume you have vista? Starforce on vista has been known to cause significant problems with GWX.

Sorry no, I can't stand Vista. I have XP SP3.

Did you remove the entire UbiSoft folder? Did you remove the SH3 folder from My Documents?

Spring for $9.95 and buy a DVD of SHIII starfarce free and patched to 1.4b; install GWX3.0 and all will be copacetic.

That worked for me with a clean vista install.

Did you update the Starforce driver? They did put out a updated driver not long after SHIII was released.

Yup I updated Starforce. Still freezes up the Checking Disc, even end task won't close. I have to hard restart my system.

Seems like the issue is when I patch to 1.4B. I can start the sim right after a fresh install but as soon as I install 1.4b it will not get past the Protection System.

try running it (go to the main menu and exit the game) and then patching it to 1.4b

Where can I get it for $10? I looked on Amazon and it's $17.

I had problem like this when I started playing SH3
Game kept crashing so MULTIPLE attempts at unistall/reinstall etc etc and game would not load
XP seems to hold onto files which the registry search does not find
try this

Windows Install Cleaner (Microsoft)
Uninstall game...Do registry clean...Run above prog....If SH3 is listed, select and remove.....Then you're ready for a complete CLEAN reinstall :cool:

I had the same problem, but the Microsoft suggestion did not work for me. I finally traced the problem to the InstallShield program and had to delete the key it kept putting back into my registry.

I've had the same problem (vista) but afer an update of starforce I don't have this problem anymore
