Need inside pictures of IJN submarines
I had a few from the "US mission to Japan 1946" but they're all very dark and bad.. (available on my filefront page in pdf format, got it from the fischer-tropsch archive :
http://www.fischer-tropsch.org/prima...USNTMJ_toc.htm) Can anyone find good pictures of the interior of any Japanese submarines and post them on filefront for instance ? even outside detailed pictures are welcome off course ! as are : japanese color schemes for submarines. Keltso |

To our regret, most of the photograph of the submarine of Japan has been lost.
However, the movie made during the war for propaganda seems to remain. 戦記映画 復刻版シリーズ 9 撃沈 ~印度洋潜水艦作戦記録~ http://pics.dmm.com/mono/movie/n_761...61dnn679pl.jpg Sorry,I cannot speak English so much. |
go chin ? I have it :)
do you know of any other ?? keltos |
The only good thing about this lack of information about how the real interiors of japanese subs were, is that you can do your custom one and no rivet counter will be able to complain with a basis
As i already said somewhere else, just do something different from the U-Boat and use it for all japanese subs, I'm sure it will look good enough  |
If and when I start the interior, I'd like a bit of data though.. like the first two pictures :)
|
Because it photographs making use of the American submarine and the like, the movie other than that differs from the real thing largely.
But, the recent movie uses the set which is close to the real thing on the basis of historical record. 出口のない海 http://visual.ponycanyon.co.jp/picku...mages/jk01.jpg |
could you post parts of it on utube or filefront ? I'd love to see that...

When I get moved, I'll look through my books

Too bad that there isnt that much stuff on Japanease subs. Now I see why UBI didnt do SH4 with a Japanease campagine.:yep:
|
Finding reference would be a killer:doh:
|
Yep, Maby there is some blueprints around somewhere.:yep:
|
those sure exist but we lack pictures, we'd need someone to access declassified material and pictures of the IJN submarines, I'm sure they documented them thoroughly before sinking them
|
Oh my God, those sub interiors look WORSE than the interior of a type II german sub. Where the heck are the depth gauges in the first pic. I see dive plane wheels, but no gauges. At least the majority of the pipes in German subs were run along the ceiling.

The first two pictures are from a "transport" submarine, end of war, maybe less well built.
I'll try and extract pictures from the movie Go Chin (1942) but they are dark usually... The depth gauge has a needle with a crescent at one end and like a can opener at the other. I know the US Navy must've pictures of the inside of the captured japanese submarines, they must be declassified by now, anyone know where / how to get access to those and scan them ? Keltos |
