I just bought myself a IIa !!!!!
 

Well, not the U-boat.

It's a 1962 series IIa, Ex-Army Land Rover, that's quite possibly been on tour in Vietnam.

She was sitting in a local junkyard, and 2 days away from going through the crusher.


Now in bits, as I slowy restore her.:D

I remember riding in a type 2 with no floor at all. Just open road below the pedals.

Not as hardy as many light 4x4s, but a wonderful machine!
Congratulations, I know many who would envy a machine like that.

And even more who wouldn't. :lol:

Time was ever sheep farmer round here had one.

I own a LR and yes, I love that thing! I put some nice computer generated knobby tires on it (No road noise) and I can go anywhere in that thing!

Really? K. Let me see if I can pull a pic. I use it mostly for Off Roading now. Its an Anniversary Ed (50 year) and is the last model year they bothered to put a locking differential in most any new vehicle. All car manufacturers have gone cheap. So I don't ever plan to sell this thing. I'll put 700K miles on it if I can. I've past 100K now (for the greenies - figure that out at a best rate of 17 MPG Hwy, 8 maybe city). I'm probably not too fuel efficient, but lugging around 2.5 tons is never efficient. But when it comes to going places, I go anywhere i want where other 4x4's die.

Need to see if I can post something. Give me a bit.

I liked my Discovery but got rid of it because of the gas milage. A series II or III would be the coolest.

One of the bad things about driving a Discovery into Washington DC is that the Discovery is 6'8" tall and the majority of parking garages are only 6'6" :yep:

Ouch! I know what you are talking about - watching the roof go past the first sun roof, scares you for the second sun roof! Its higher! :D

Then you start to wonder if you should get out, and drop your tire pressures a little, giving yourself a few extra inches clearance.

I'm still looking. I've owned 6 SAAB's so far, and I have a ton of pics of those though - but can't find my LR pics. I have some, but not very clear. Here is one SAAB I bought my wife for example (I've got her 3 convertibles so far, but now she drives my sedan? I don't get it??!!!). Anyway, this SAAB was pretty peppy. Its an SE model. Had a decent 205 HP.

I have since sold this one however. I only have one SAAB at the moment - a 93 Aero. I usually keep two on hand.
