and where is that mission editor?
where to download? |
you don't download the mission editor it comes with the game. It is in program files, ubisoft, in the Silent Hunter 4 folder.

start it Go to file Open (normal mission) Go to "Single Mission" folder Find the one you want. SM01 Battle of Midway Open it At the top is a little hand, click it so you can click on the map to move it. Find the ships, your sub is the round one. Triangles are planes, Squares are ships. Now look at how many ships and decide if maybe you should play it as a sub. That's why ships are no good in regular career. If you want to change it, zoom in with your mouse button to find the sub. Click on the hand so it is off. Now you can click on the sub,and the circle is highlighted Now with the right mouse button click on the sub and select "Properties" A panel will open and at the top you will see "Height -18" that is how far the sub is underwater. Change it to 0 and then hit enter. Save the mission. Now go get blown up. You can drag your sub away a bit if you want, but if you go too far it will take forever to get back. Enjoy. Peabody |
thanks for all peabody!

oh and i have found a bug : the iowa is invinciblee :damn:
i am playing with nsm 4.0 and P.E.3 i killed 1 bb 3 or 4 cruisers and some destroyers... with zero damages :arrgh!: Edit : TEST of hull strenght Reedit : hull is invincible : destroyed 2 yamato + 1 fuso + 30 airplanes (bombers) |

I guess I'll have to close the shipyard, too many things I don't know how to do. Peabody |
The Iowa does take damage but only if you're in control of the turret. Infact I was up against the Yamoto and it actually sunk me
EDIT: pozine how did you sink the yamoto I put 300 or so 16 " shells in her and I couldn't even dent her. |

destroyed 1 yamato + damaged the other (sorry) how i did to sink it?, maby with luck because the yamato exploded. after there were no enough shells in shell bunker to sink the others BB. Quote:

LoL... I took a torpedo while going into action with the USS Iowa and the bow was half submerged under water... putting my forward main guns out. I was hoping for the DC teams to spring into action... but they must have been busy else where at the time.
|
wow! yesterday 2 yamatos and 50 planes sank me when i was in control of uss iowa... but it takes 1 hour (ingame time) The yamato main gun (46cm diameter) can destroy 60 cm of armored steel... at 44 km. so why it takes 1 hour to sink me? I was at less than 1km of them. At that distance, the yamato's main gun can probably destroy 2 meters of armored steel.
so, 1 yamato could 1shot or 2shot an iowa class battleship if they aim correcly... (magasine explosion) ok now, where can i edit the hull strenght of all ships? |

You asked in your other question on where you can edit the hull strength, it's not that simple. There are zones to every ship and sub and these zones represent areas of the ship and some are more apt to take damage than others. The trouble is the zones are boxes and spheres and they have coordinates. So to do it properly you have to figure out what zone it is, where it is on the ship, how much armor is at that 'zone' how many 'hitpoints' it will take before becoming damaged/destroyed and what will also get damaged if that zone takes damage. In other words if you take a hit in a certain zone, and it is the engine room, you have to figure out how much damage and what else got damaged. Engines, propeller shaft, crew and so on. It is not simply find a file and change a 100 to 50 and you are done. It doesn't work that way. There is a lot of learning to make this stuff work. That is why I freely admit I am a beginner trying to learn how to do it, but there are times when I just don't know the answer and sometimes can't find the answer. I do the best I can with the knowledge I have. If you want a perfectly working ship with all the damage zones working you have a long road ahead of you. I am not saying give up...go for it. Just understand you are going to have to do more work than change one number. You could start by reading the Pocket BB thread there is some discussion about the zones in there. They were working on them. Peabody |
ok thanks peabody
