Question About RSRDC and Shipping Lanes
Is RSRD based upon the shipping lanes and associated dates as shown on the map that came with the game?

The map does not support the current shipping that are in RSRDC |
Your best bet would be to find one of the many charts that show the historical shipping lanes from that era. Lurker has done an excellent job of returning the shipping in the game to their historical routes. Several references have this type of map included.

Could you point us to a map? US skippers had a pretty good idea of what was going on where........ Thanks, Martin |
Here's one web site.

rsrdc is one of the best mods out there but you HAVE to do your homework to take full advantage of it.
you will find the traffic in the right shipping lanes at the right dates but you need to pay close attention to the date and area or it will be hard to find targets. the site captain dave gave you is good and google others to find out all you can. rsrdc was designed to be historically acurate so its not going to have ships where they arent recorded to have been. |
This is good. Like Gainiac though, I'd like to hear from Lurker what he used to base IJN shipping lanes on.

Banjo, again, I know this isn't answering your question directly but I've found this chart to be invaluable. Perhaps it will be useful to you:

Virtual, Thanks, I actually have that one. It printed out a little small but I can live with that. Didn't know if it was a good one or not. I'll start using it a bunch.

Banjo, I initially had the same problem you are with the printed chart being too small to be useful but then found this:
http://www.geocities.com/calumetciti...ps-how-to.html These instructions walk you through how to print out this map to span six pages which makes it much more user friendly. Happy hunting. |
Super! Thanks again.

Approaches to major naval bases/anchorages?
Truk, Japan, Singapore, Tawi Tawi, etc? |
do you have any other areas i can look as well besides the naval bases

think real life
come on guys, in RL would you go looking around the approaches to enemy bases? think more like focal nodes of traffic.
safer that way, than go put your nose into Truk Lagoon or Rabaul with half the IJN fleet near by and most of the fleet destroyers, plus Bettys, Emilys and the like |

is a list of naval battles. The second is why I'm sending you to the first. As you will see, this is how you find the good stuff. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=146177 |
