[WIP] - New Containers & Deck Cargo
http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d5...titled-1-1.jpg
http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d5...Untitled-2.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d5...titled-3-1.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d5...life/effie.jpg This is a minor alteration to the default SH3 shipping containers. I heard some complaints that the freighters looked strange with huge, blocky containers, so I modified them to a more plausible size. IMO this improves the look of merchantmen especially when they're observed in profile. It has the added benefit of not intersecting fixtures like cargo booms (a major problem with some modded ships). http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d5...elife/trac.jpg It should be available soon but I would like to release it with some other additions if possible, like construction equipment & other interesting deck cargoes. I need help with a few things: -S3ditor often gives me error messages when I try to remap textures -I need to find out how to add new slots for additional cargoes in incarcatura.dat. I know it's possible b/c it was done for GWX, but I don't know how to do it myself. If anyone can help out I'd be very grateful. |
I don't believe you need place them there.
Built a new dat. All calls are by name or ID and the game engine cares less what you name it. Translate Verschiedene Sachen Then look in the Library folder. |
Nice mod, but I wouldn't make the deck cargo too container-like as containers really did not appear historically until the mid 1950's

I can already hear Iam telling you that the modelling work would be too important if he decides not to use containers any more.
But ... I guess that you can always mention which objects you want to see as deck cargo all the same. :hmm: Maybe Iam will take the time to model some of them (maybe ). http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/1047/tracxy8.th.jpg I must say this one looks very cool ! :yep: |

How is it going so far, been very quiet?:D
I think this is a good mod idea, will this work with stock/GWX ships, I assume the containers are external to the ships folder?:yep: Cheers. |

Nice work; this can open a lot of possibility!
Bulldozer look very nice  |
Containers may not, with steel enclosures, been possible. But the fact is they would have shipped them in wood crates...
so there would have been containers...just with wood, everything was crated... Koon |
During WWII?
Metals were needed else where. Wood was cheap and easily replaced. Most, if not all containers were probably made of wood. |
The Russians used to take the wooden pallets for firewood during the winter (in Murmansk anyway) until a few were hung for wasting 'vital' war material.
Now that is desparation....they had no problem/compunction twisting ships derricks beyond repair by lifting materials way beyond the lifting capacity, but risked a possible death penalty for trying to keep warm http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...ys/4_6_100.gif My father told me that merchant crews risked lengthy terms of imprisonment if they were caught fraternising with the local women, which eventually led to a strict 'no shore leave' order for everyone. |
