I love the new Belchen supply ship!

I do. It really makes the earlier patrols a lot more fun because now you can patrol the northern waters and go all the way to the Canadian en US coast in your type VIIb/c.
And visit New York before the US become hostile (dec 41).

I have a lot of fun patrolling against the Nothern convoys, best career so far!
Thanks GWX modders :up::up::up:

It does make it easier not having to worry about fuel as much.

That's right, you will not always be the only one refuelling!

Jimbuna 03-24-08 02:31 PM

Just make sure you get there first or all the girlie mags will have been snaffled http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/4...kbigid2zj6.gif

Im currently lying off the coast of canada and have ran out of deck gun ammo and only have 2 torpedos left (after a run in with an unescorted convoy :D). Can the belchan resupply my ammo and how do i get it to do that? Playing GWX 2.0

Antiacus 03-25-08 09:39 PM

I'm kind of wondering how this works too. I'm using GWX2.0 and SH3 Commander. Also, does this count as another mission?

When you dock with it it'll resupply you with both fuel and ordnance. It'll also end your current patrol, and create a new patrol with a patrol grid of NULL and destination of your home port.

But warning, it will cost you whatever time you would normally be in port between patrols. Three weeks to resupply your boat! (I know its a stock issue...too bad it can't be fixed for a more realistic resupply period.)

You can use SH3Cmdr to adjust time between patrols.

Not quite true...but even better! SH3 Commander automatically sets the time between patrols to one day plus a day for each point of damage repaired, any time you're at a supply ship or milk cow. I'm not sure, but I think it also does it at friendly ports.

There's also the old "SH3patrol" tool that gives you a new patrol grid instead of "NULL".
I don't know if you can change the numbers spend in port for the belchen supply ship, since that one is new in GWX 2.0.

Thank you, Fonzie.

Jimbuna 03-26-08 11:34 AM

Your welcome. I learned that from Kpt. Lehmann.

I go there so mutch i only return to base 1/3 patrols!

Alpha Von Burg 08-20-10 11:32 PM

The first time I dock at at the Belchen supply ship, it was sunset, the fog was thick, the clouds are low and the rain was heavy. When I set my eyes in the ship, it looked abandoned, like a ghost ship.

Two-and-a-half-year necro. Not a record, but close.

To be more realistic it should actually take longer to ressuply at a milk cow (unless its fuel only), transferring torpedos at sea was a very risky and time consuming process. If conditions were bad you were pretty much SoL and would've had to wait for the storm to pass. Trying to move a volatile warhead between two moving boats on North Atlantic currents wasn't an easy operation; in a u-boat pen or dockyard you're pretty much immobile and can be resupply in a factory assembly line manner.

Until the French ports become available the supply ships serve as my home base as their positions are perfect for either US raiding or mediterranean (before La Spezia/Salamis is available). Last patrol after expending all torpedos/ammo I had to dodge 3 outbound conveys from Halifax just to get to the supply ship, one of them I just had rotten luck and ran perfectly perpendicular into one and the escort saw me long enough before I could dive that he made life miserable for a few hours in the (relatively) shallow water in that area.
