One of my favourite writers from late childhood and teen years. A legend in his realm.

Not really 2010, but close to.

Known as the father of the satellite industry he has an entire orbit named after him. The "Clarke Belt".

Ah. *sigh* Another golden age sci-fi author is gone. 90 years is a good run. R.I.P. Alan C. Clarke.

This man wrote some of my absolute favorite science fiction. He was so far ahead of his time and he will be missed.

Brag 03-18-08 08:06 PM

A grand author who literally made my heart soar. He was also a great person who led an adventurous life. Almost a rennaisance man. I will miss him.

Two geniuses lost in the space of 24 hours, first filmmaker Anthony Minghella and now Sir Arthur, the world is a much poorer place for the loss of these two great men.

Dmitry Markov 03-18-08 11:16 PM

One of the greatest writers ever... R.I.P. Sir Arthur C Clarke

In a way, I am kinda glad he pass on. From what I read, his last years were non too comfortable with all his illnesses and disabilities.

I am glad he found peace and is no longer suffering.

I enjoyed his books

The only Science fiction authour I ever really cared much for. A visionary and a wonderful writer. Strangely enough, I only just tracked down an old copy of 'Arthur C Clarke's mysterious world' yesterday and was reading it when I heard the news.

RIP.

Arthur C. Clarke, Isaac Asimov, Frank Herbert, and J.R.R. Tolkien.
They all gave me more pleasure then I could explain.
R.I.P Guys.
You will always be remembered.

I loved 2001, especially the opening scene with the monkeys. Kinda reminds me of work. Has anybody seen the Pink Floyd song "Echoes" set to 2001? It's really cool, I'd post the youtube link, but I'm at work and youtube....:dead: :damn:
