Mod idea (call in supply tanker)
OK , i am using RSRDC and i was sent to the Luzon straits from brisbane in an sboat . There is no way i can have enough fuel . So my question is , seeing we now have an option to call in combat units (havnt done so in the pacific campaign and not sure if you can) . Can a mod be made to call in a supply tanker to refuel ?

After alot of trial and error, ive come to the conclusion that "tactical support" options are hardcoded to only work with the uboat addon campaign. If theres a trick to get them to work, i didn't find it.
So your supply tanker, would most likey be a standard sub tender, implemented as subtenders are prior to uboat add on. |

What version RSRDC are you using ? That sounds like a bug that I corrected a while back |

Could be useful in case of a devastating air attack that destroys your engines...Refit at sea:up: |
And obviously avery time you run out of diesel and/or ammunitions. But can we really call in a replenishment vessel in game or not?
The long forgotten SH2 had this feature, if my memory serves me well.. |
Wasnt that a "milkcow mod" in SH2? I remember downloading it and using it, yet it was prone to some issues from time to time...
Man that was a long time ago... |

Anything News ??? :hmm:

US sub tenders didn't steam out to meet subs.
A few attempts were made to transfer fuel from one boat to another, but it didn't work. More likely would be another boat coming out, taking off your crew, and scuttling the stranded sub. tater |
Yeah, rolling the dice and abandoning ship, like SH1, or being rescued and scuttling the boat shoud really be the only two options. Usually there were subs "nearby" in neighboring patrol zones. I remember reading the Batfish logs and they often had radar interference from nearby fleet boats on patrol. Sometimes they had to make an effort to steer clear of each other.

Scuttle a Fleetboat because it's out of fuel ? :nope: |
Got any examples of Fleet Types being refueled at sea?
Usually it was damage/grounding (s-boats, mostly). I don't have any lack of fuel examples, but no skipper would run his boat out of fuel in the way suggested. "I'm ordered to go 3X my range, let's drive out past the point of no return then complain we're out of fuel to comsubpac!" LOL tater |
The fuel/ballast tanks in the game leak a little too easily and they should be repairable. The Arizona has been at the the bottom of Pearl Harbor for 66+ years and it's still leaking fuel oil. Plus, fleet boats had multiple tanks. The game just assumes it's one big fuel tank and it all spills out into the ocean like Exxon Valdez.

Fleet boats never refuelled at sea ( never seen a photo showing a refuel at sea ) U-boats are a different thing, in the south atlantic and indian ocean they usually were refuelled by surface ships like blockadebrechern and even auxiliary cruisers ( the mighty KMS Atlantis was lost while refuelling U-126 ) |
well we can of course mod fuel delivery, pizza service and tactical nuklear strike but lets stay at the ground. There should be a little bit realism. Think about it.

< . . . embarrassed, Letterboy abandons his Pizza Delivery mod.>
|
You could switch it to ice cream delivery, we had a barge for that ;)
|
I only have problems with S boats . Maybe lurker can look at his latest rsrdc . Obviously if S boats were never supplied fuel mid ocean then either the boats are being sent too far or if they are being sent to patrol the correct place then the fuel range needs adjusting to be realistic .
