[REL] DAS BOOT MUSIC for uboat 1.5
 

Hi, dear Kaleuns :ping:

Thanks to some modders here, crew voices for the uboat are back to german! :up:

Neverless, i thought sounds needed a little something more. Since for us, captains of uboat, it's allways a long long way to Tipperary, I prepared a little mod for you all, to help you get in the mood during our long trips!
It replaces nearly all ingame music by accordingly chosen one from the movie Das Boot ;)
Oh and by the way, I also provided a few bonuses for your gramophone :smug:

• "Tipperary" song from Red Army choir (the one used in das boot)
• "J'attendrai", the captain's personnal favorite :|\\
• "Mon Gars", this is the tune that girl sing in the bar at La Rochelle
• "Schwarze Augen", the tune her band play right after (those two, as played in das boot)
• "Muss I Denn", for your harbor departures/heroic arrivals
• Some Wagner stuff
• "Maybe", from 1933 band The Ink Spot, some of RPG players here will recognize ;);)

where are they?? only found some midi files (crappy quality, as expected from such a file)

Sorry for the download sites, they are all a nuisance lol You couldn't find a proper free one with good bandwith everytime. At least, i think 4share.com doesn't have a "per ip limited number of downloads" like rapidshare has, though the later has often better speed to offer

Don't know if I had to ask the guy responsible for the 1.5 modlist thread... I suppose he does this on his own cause i got a bunch of 1.5 mod especially for the uboat campaign (das boot music, no hydrophone while surfaced and better looking underwater bubbles on the uboat)

If this is music from the official album, I have to ask: is this even remotely legal?

Some are, some are recorded from the movie... I believe it's "use at your own risk" so to speak lol
Like in some mods in SH3, you had a vid of dasboot running in the background of main menu wich no more really legal...

Well, technically using video clips is illegal, just as using sound clips for mods is :oops: . But they usually don't care about that sort of thing, since clips from movies are used in news shows all the time.

I just thought that since there have already been lawsuits over free downloads of copywrited music, they might frown on it; more like offering up whole movies than just using clips for a game.

On the other hand, people have been using Das Boot clips since SH2 and no one has been sued, yet. It's not like you're ripping the entire album. Just don't sell it and you should be fine.

While i do not wish to be involved in moral or legal discussions Id like to put a link here for a compliment to kapitan's Das Boot music mod.

This IS NOT JSGME ready. its just FILES use them as you wish.

24 meg of about 6 fitting, normalized, Hunt For Red October tracks. They go well with the das boot music and fit into the game 'mood' nicely i think. I adjusted the volume on these to match that of Kapitans mod, so they play well together.

YOU HAVE TO EDIT YOUR MUSIC CONFIG FILE YOURSELF

name the tracks as you wish (numerically)
add the files into your music folder for the in game music
add the tracks in the Music config with the neccsisary changes to the Track count, and tracks listed in that file.

done! :)
