CO2 bug
Ok gents, CO2 was never a factor for game play before the add-on. Now CO2 seems to be working. But it is working a bit too good. In other words, the boat never vents. The little icon is cool. Click on it and the boat will surface but the CO2 never gets vented. Anyone here know what the root cause of this is? Repairable?

Hardcoded stock issue i think. (honestly id rather it be a mod problem, at least then its fixable)
I'm more interested in finding what makes the problem occur, and to find a workaround. My first shot in the dark GUESS, is loading a game that was saved while submerged? That is a THEORY, that i hope can be proved true, because then we have a workaround. "(Dont save while submerged)". If that isn't the case, then we have problem, a big one. |
I had this bug too... I "think" I fixed it by saving surfaced with a different filename, then reloading the new save....
But in case that doesn't work I might have saved it submerged with a new name, then reloading and surfacing... I'm sorry I can't remember exactly what I did, but it did 'fix' it and I was able to continue on my career (UBM). |
I've also had this bug several times. I just saved a few times while surfaced, and eventually it loads with the CO2 status as vented.
I've also have gotten this bug while surfaced with rough seas (modified wave amplitude, etc...) |
When my CO2 gets to a certain level , the little icon at the top right of the screen will appear with CO2 on it . I click on this and it says "surfacing the boat" . Now my CO2 will expel .
|
It is strange. I'm submerged, my little icon pops up. It shows 10% co2. Ok, no problem. I kept motoring along and surfaced later. No vent. I TC'd but no vent. The icon still showed 10% but the meter on the orders bar kept climbing. I saved at that point but have not restarted yet.

Did you surface by clicking the little CO2 icon up the top right ?
|
Yes, all it did was "surface the boat" but I was already surfaced. I went to PD and then hit the icon again. "surface the boat". Up I went. No vent and no change.
|
I am just trying to figure it out . Ok , so you pressed the CO2 when already surfaced . Maybe this stuffs something up , i dunno . Maybe try going to PD again and just surface via the menu buttons down the bottom panel . I had to travel for a while for it to vent BTW . It didnt happen straight away .

I have no Add-On ... But in SH4 ver. 1.4 ÑÎ2 dial and ventilation work (after adjustment of dial values) ... |

Who in the hell still saves while submerged, after years and thousands of posts regarding the pitfalls of doing so in SH3 AND SH4?

Well I got the CO2 bug again. I was submerged in a u-boat and had to alt-tab out of the game for a few minutes. I paused the game, pressed Esc to get to the menu, then alt-tabbed. When I got back into the game a few mins later I resurfaced, and noticed a while after this I was very slowly accumulating CO2. I then submerged, saved the game, exited the game to the main menu, and reloaded the save I had just made. Resurfaced, all my CO2 disappeared.
I have since tried to reproduce this, alt-tabbing while on the surface and also submerged and it hasn't happened again, except oddly enough, now when I submerge I don't build up any CO2 at all. |

Hey guys, I posted this thread (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=132775) where I had the C02 bug.
My .02... My patrol started at Pearl with a 48hr troll in the Celebes. I worked my way down, sunk some shipping, yadda ya. I was damaged. I had batt damage which is the worst since I have to micromanage it. Along with that, what I can remember, was hydrophones, both guns, planes, the deck attack scope, and electric engines. I refitted at Brisbane and took off for the Gilberts via the Solomans. I saved as I left Brisbane. After I passed the Solomans, dinking and diving, I took the stretch to the Gilberts. Somewhere after that, I got spooked by an aircraft and dove again. It was when I rose that the C02 hit. I hadnt saved since Brisbane. About 20 min real time. So, I dunno, just adding my chips to the pot as it were. The fix I found is in that thread. |
After my save and restart, the CO2 level was at zero. I still have not put my finger on the way to make this issue go away. Maybe it is the beans they are serving in the galley all the time.
