This is a pre alpha, which means it has many flaws, but with your help it can be perfect! If you can help with this mod in any way please contact me or post here.

WHAT WE NEED NOW: a working skin.

 Thats an excellent idea! Introducing the I type jap sub and the midget submarines, why not.But if the comunity modders allow me we can go further forward, could be achievable a great mod implementing these new units and adding more compartments for ALL the existing ones?Imagine the 3D enviroment if some more stations were implemented,I dont know,Officer or Captain quarters, machinery or torpedo room.....,figure out.

So,we have now something to discuss about in the next months.

:D

A japanese sub would be exciting...with an appropriate japanese sided campaign of course.
But a single sub is a good addition and it will give us something to start from:arrgh!:

It would be cool to have the sub with the plane hangar, too, just for craps and grins. Send out your Pete to find juicy Ami targets.

Here's a website that lists all of the different IJN subs...

Yes, and with the air recon ability introduced with the upcoming expansion we could create a mod wich allows the sub to surface and launch its own recognition seaplane!!:arrgh!: :arrgh!: :arrgh!: :arrgh!:

In general, I would like to see these Jap boats roaming the Pacific as an added threat to the US missions, as well. You never know when Bungo Pete might have an underwater helper waiting to say hello.

The KD classes were based on German WWI designs (U-139) and the L4 class were based on the British L Class design. These would probably be easier to model, since there's probably more information on their european counterparts.

Japanese used many different types of submarines, a nice step forward would be recreating just a few ones...the most important models for example.

M. Sarsfield 02-22-08 11:05 AM

Yeah. The link I posted earlier shows all of the types. I just mentioned the KDs and L4 to make it easier on the modelers.

I myself would like to see a B3 class, looks almost like an American early war tambor class. And also a KD class.

J class submarine cruisers and/or A type first class submarine carriers!!
Also some C type long range transport/combat boats wuold be very nice...some of the most advanced subs in the japanese navy!:arrgh!:

Who will take on the challenge of making them?:arrgh!:

It is inconceivable to me that nobody has ever tried to mod them as human-drivable, so anybody who has attempted same is free to chime in here with a list of obstacles, bugs, and missing features they encountered.

It took me 3 hours to modify this picture: Japanese B class submarine I-35 plans.

and a shot of another B class

Im hoping someone will make a B class, they were the most numerous.

And a 3D model of one

Will they have the correct interiors? Voices?

UBI did the German boats because their patterns were already made, therefore easy to transfer. I think it's a preliminary to a new Atlantic campaign, with SH4 standards.

You are my hero! I would love this, even if Jap subs weren't any good. I have a bunch of Japanese submarine books, if you need anything, let me know.

I think it would be cool if they did a Japanese campaign for the Solomons 1942-43.

Nice!

I just had an idea, using Pack3D we could replace the 3D model of a current US sub with the Sent-Toku class sub 3D model.
